  • I played golf yesterday at the club with my sons aged 16+17. Everett (who is apparently the operations manager) was working in the pro shop. I asked about the afternoon special for golf regarding free club rental for junior players and if it applied to both courses. I explained that I had played a few days ago. The manager in his most condescending tone said to me: "Why are you acting like you don't know if there is a special if you played here a couple days ago?" So rude and insulting! I just wanted to know if it was still going on and if it applied to both courses?? If this is how MANAGEMENT treats guests this place isn't worth your time. I'll play nicer courses in the future: Oh, and they let a group of 8 with 6 kids aged 5-8 ahead of us who were smashing their rented clubs into the greens. Please avoid this place. Other than being in Hawaii, it has ZERO going for it.
  • My brother came to visit big island from his country, and my family decided to meet him over there last month. He enjoys golf very much, and we stayed their for a 5 days. The first two days we golfed at Mauna Lani Resort, and the gold course was great, including the staff, they were very friendly (although it was a little expensive than I expected). On the last day, we went to Waikoloa Beach Golf Course (we played the Beach course and kings both), and the course and staff were incredibly rude! I hit the ball into a rough, so I began to drive the cart near where the ball landed. I noticed the gas seemed to be low and called the starter to replace the cart. As I was driving slowly to the rough (which was 5 yards away from fairway) a staff member began to yell to me that I could not go there. There were no signs to indicate that I could not enter the rough. I do not understand the rough is nothing special??? I play golf more than 25 years!!!! What irks me was that the staff did not even apologize for the cart and immediately yelled at me for their mistake of not having signs. The staff member shouts at me and when I do not respond quickly, he asks if I could speak English. I, of course and told him I could. We had argument for a while I asked for the manager and was told that he was. Since he was the manager (Evertt is his name), I could not complain further and went on to play. The only reason I am giving this resort a two star rather than one is because the manager sent a beverage cart with cans of beer to my family to soothe our anger. This is the most horrible experience I have ever had playing golf. Worst way to spend $1,500 is to play here for two days. Highly do NOT recommend you to come here.
  • The course was in terrific shape 1st week Dec/2016! No reason to expect anything different in coming weeks/months. Was lucky to ace #8 Beach Course! The folks in the pro shop could not have been nicer! They even gave me a "Hole In One" flag! Thanks Stephen and Becky!!
  • My son and I played this course yesterday and we found the experience was far from enjoyable. 1. Every green had a layer of sand that exhibited a fishtail as it rolled to the cup. The impact to the speed and accuracy of the putt was considerable and very frustrating. Many greens were not completely covered in grass but instead had patches of hard dirt and other materials. 2. The sand aside, the greens were bumpy with many divots and cleat marks. The edges of the holes were not sharp, rounded through use, bumpy, and very inconsistent. 3. A group of 4 that were 2 groups in front of us turned this into a FIVE, 5, hour round. Never saw a marshal. 4. I've been to courses with ball cleaners placed sporadically or on every other hole. There were NO ball washers on the entire course. I live in California where weather conditions normally allow me to play at least twice a week. I have a 12 handicap with the NCGA. I know what I'm talking about when I say that this course was in poor condition, improperly maintained and a far cry from the value and expectations we had. Extremely disappointing,
  • Sorry for your bad experience Gary, I'm sure you know what your talking about with a 12 handicap and all, but I Play the course each year when we come to Waikoloa and I have always found it to be an enjoyable place to play They get a lot of players through there so I am sure it is difficult to keep up with the traffic, it is not a limited play club as a private one is so if your used to that it is understandable Hopefully your next experience is better
