Wahiawa Botanical Garden, Wahiawa

#4 of 7 in Things to do in Wahiawa
Cradled between the Waianae and Koolau mountain ranges in central Oahu lies Wahiawa Botanical Garden - the "tropical jewel" of the Honolulu Botanical Gardens. This 27-acre garden and forested ravine dates back to the 1920s when this land was first used by sugar planters as an experimental arboretum. Your tour will take you among plants that thrive in the cooler environment and shady, humid habitat of this tropical rain forest.

  • The Botanical Gardens were beautiful! A great place to take the family for a picnic and a walk. We were advised that the whole place takes about an hour to walk around. The plants were so unique and vibrant. The signs posted are educational and inspiring.
  • This botanical garden was not what I was expecting. It was so much better. If you love trees, this hidden gem will awe you. It's a place that engages your imagination. They also have a sheet of local birds that live in the garden for any interested bird watchers. Admission was free.
  • Excellent botanical garden with very friendly knowledgeable staff. The tree, plant, and flower specimens are beautiful and well arranged and labeled on shaded walkable paths. We really enjoyed our visit and would readily return another time.
  • This is a small botanical garden, free entrance and free parking. There isn't an extensive set of trails and no real loop. You just have to take small trails off to the side until they deadend and then return to the main paved path. I didn't encounter any mosquitoes and the trails were well shaded. Overall, this is a nice place to come relax as a local and go for a walk.
  • A little diamond in the rough of wahiawa. Hidden away. It was very nice to stroll through, didn’t get to see it all but it’s a free place to go. Nice place to see native trees and plants.
