Dole Plantation, Wahiawa

3.1
#1 of 7 in Things to do in Wahiawa
Dole Plantation explores the story of one of Hawaii’s most important exports: the pineapple. You can begin your visit with a ride on the pineapple express. A narrated 20-minute train ride tells you the story of the pineapple in Hawaii and how the plantation was founded. For even more information, take the garden tour to learn how pineapples grow and see more of the islands’ other important produce, such as cacao and coffee. The on-site maze, crafted from colorful Hawaiian plants, stretches over 1.2 hectares (3 acres) and was deemed the world’s largest maze in 2008. Don’t leave without sampling the famous DoleWhip. • I don't know why people keep recommending this place. It's a tourist trap. Only go for the free pineapple carving show and some overly sweet ice cream. The "garden" is mostly dead. Save yourself and do not ride the train, it talks non stop about buying stuff in the shop with a little history thrown in. The "Maze" is barely that. You can see and walk between the rows. The food was not bad and not nearly as overpriced as I was expecting. Decent amount of parking too.
  • Even though it may seem like a tourist trap, this is a must. Outside of being able to buy anything pineapple themed that you can think of such as the infamous “dole whip”, you can also explore activities such as their maze (of which I beat it in 26 minutes) and a train ride through all of the varying things grown on the island. A must with the family and if you’re looking to have a good leisurely time. Prepare for it to be packed as we visited the Dole Plantation on several occasions for more Dole Whip Ice Cream and it is always packed with tourists.
  • It's a spot to stop for a couple of hours on the way to North Shore. It's a cozy place to visit and learn about Hawaii pineapple history. They have a great tasting pineapple drink and a train tour around the mock plantation. I will tell you sometimes the wait for the train tour could take up to two hours depending on the time you visit. They also have a maze were you can spend time looking for hidden treasures. Overall it was fun to visit the plantation.
  • Great place to relax and stroll around to see how pineapple plantation. The pineapple soft serve ice cream was delicious! Would not recommend the garden, as it was boring. The train ride was informative about the history of Dole. Had BBQ corn after our tour and it was juicy and tasty, priced at $5 with your choice of flavour. Parking was easy to find around 10am.
  • There are lots fun activities to do at the Dole Plantation. Our group of four did the train ride and had a great time. After the ride, we went to their gift shop and enjoyed some delicious Dole whip which is basically pineapple ice cream. We also bought some souvenirs, including coconut syrup. Definitely check this place out when you're up north.
