  • One of the funnest things I have ever done in my life!!!!! I booked the two hour ride with Ace as my tour guide. Had such a blast!! Couldn't have been a more relaxing and beautiful ride. Ace was such nice company and taught us a lot about the cactus and desert! Loved seeing the jackrabbit too. Fantastic experience.
  • Rode with my best friend from Colorado and we purchased our passes from Groupon. The weather was perfect and we loved our experience! Our guide was named Ace and on our two hour ride, he was very friendly and talkative. He pointed out many different types of desert plants and seemed very knowledgeable about the White Tank area and Arizona in general.
  • Excellent customer service, horses were clean and beautiful trails with great views.
  • Booked a 1 hour ride for 5 people on Dec 27, 2016. When we arrived the head honcho, Ace, informed us we could only do a hour ride with 25 other people. We balked and asked for a refund and he finally agreed to take us for an hour. Horses were filthy -encrusted with mud and feces from nose to tail so we didn't even want to touch them. While we stood and waited for Ace to organize the horses we saw one that had a clean neck. I asked the stable hand if we could pat that horse and she agreed. As the kids reached out to touch the horse Ace turned and screamed at us to get away from the horses. The stable hand shook her head and apologized to us.then Ace put us on horses and we had a silent journey for an hour except for when Ace screamed at us to keep up. My horse was lame and had trouble walking over the stony path. I was worried it was going to fall during the ride. Overall not a pleasant experience and horrible customer service. Not worth the time or money.
  • I would like to point out that this stable was known as the White Tanks Riding Stables through April 2014, and it was run for about 17 years by a wonderful family out of Colorado Springs. During that 17-year timeframe, the stable was very well-run - good managers; lots of volunteer guides, greeters, and horse caregivers; and happy horses. Rides were on schedule and were in compliance with insurance requirements and park regulations. Sadly, in September 2014 in the off-season, the stables were vandalized and the family made the difficult decision not to return. Pot-O-Gold, which owns several stables, has operated out of this location since October or November 2014, even though the old sign is still up and people might erroneously think it's still run by the Colorado family. The Pot-O-Gold horses also seem healthy and happy. The manager Debby (?) is very kind and friendly. I was out there only once - and the male guide putting people aboard their horses yelled at a volunteer who was spending extra time comforting and repeating instructions to a nervous novice rider. I won't ride there for that reason, until I know for sure that that guide is no longer employed there. (He WAS very kind and gentle to the horses; I'll give him that.) When reading reviews about horseback riding stables, keep in mind that it is the rider's responsibility to prevent the horse from eating, passing other horses, or walking off the trail. It is the guide's responsibility to ensure the riders keep a distance between horses so there is no biting or kicking. And it is the stable's responsibility to keep to the schedule and have enough staff available to guide rides, greet visitors, and staff the office concurrently.
