We have our family reunion there every year. The host, Gilbert, is horrible. He has no customer service whatsoever. He is rude and unprofessional.
The campground was nice and clean. Beware that the roads leading to it are very narrow. We had a 26ft travel trailer and we had to be cautious. Also, it is pretty much 30+ minutes from gas.
On our way out to northern New Mexico we stopped at this little park instead of enjoying hotel stay in Santa Fe. We drove in on highway 3 from the south and road fairly desolate but with good vistas. ... read more »
This park is beautiful but poorly maintained. I visited here to camp in July and we had a myriad off issues. We had 2 camping spots in the campground on top of the hill. One of the table area coverings was covered in rodent droppings so we set up our things in the other covered sitting area. After we were set up we discovered that in the roof of the dwelling was a mouse nest. For an area that is so heavily populated it is not well maintained if a huge mouse nest was in the dwelling. We were moving our things out of this area when we discovered 2 Arizona bark scorpions. These scorpions are the most poisonous scorpions in existence, and are fatal to small children, which we were with 2 of. After this discovery we promptly left the area. I hope that this beautiful area is better maintained in the future.
Time traveled to another dimension! Words cannot desribe the captivation...the thrall of this well kept secret treasure of super nature! The perfect scenary and incrdeous day hike explore is just the tip of the fascination! The river's wild begged us in...I give dibbs to the workers sacrificial device! Unbelievable!!!

One of my favorite places in New Mexico. Nestled in a lush valley near a colonial Spanish village. Cool off in the Pecos River or hike up the mesa for great views and wildlife watching. General store in Villa Nueva a mile or so away has food, ice, firewood etc. Campground can get messy, shelters need a good cleaning, but worth it.
Great getaway close to Santa Fe! Pros: great views, close to the river Cons: lots of litter, car campers with radios!
Nice generic NM park. Seems popular. Narrow road coming in. Good view from the top, only place cell service . Nothing particularly special about it though. Limited hiking, but still good. Check out the flock of sparrows on the cliff.
