  • After being disappointed with campsites being used by day users at Morphy State Park we needed a new place to camp for two nights. By the time we arrived at VSP on a late Sunday afternoon most of the ...  more »
  • This was our first time to this NM state park and it's our favorite thus far. It's secluded and therefore very peaceful. No cell service, so you can truly unwind. The camp is clean and the lower campg...  more »
  • This is a fairly remote but beautiful park located in a canyon alongside the Pecos River. We stayed here 4 nights on our visit to NM and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, for the most part. We were in site...  more »

  • This is a great state park. Out of the way and very senic. We pulled our 24 ft travel trailer and went without a reservation. While the best sites require a reservation it can be done without. We stayed in site 10A and while it had electric hook up the water spigot was too far away to reach with the 75 ft of hose I had. I really needed at least another 50 ft. Sites 7A and 9A are very nice and have electricity and water within reason but you will need a splitter for you water as it is shared between two sites. These two sites must be reserved. We we're there at the end of March and the first of April and felt like we had the park to ourselves. The weather was a little ruff at first as our first day started with rain, changed to sleet and eventually snow but melted as fast as it fell. Coldest morning was 31 degrees but the days warmed into the upper 50's and low 60's. We will be going back but with reservation. Reservation's must be made in advance as they are booked almost all summer. Plan way ahead of you trip to reserve a site.
  • Love this campground! Lots of fun in the river and great camping spaces. Also, my wife appreciates that the bathrooms are actual bathrooms and there is a shower in both Men's and Woman's bathrooms.
  • Nice clean campground on the river. Quiet most of the time. Loud & roudy on the big holiday weekends. Get an electric site so you can to avoid the generators.
  • This park is beautiful but poorly maintained. I visited here to camp in July and we had a myriad off issues. We had 2 camping spots in the campground on top of the hill. One of the table area coverings was covered in rodent droppings so we set up our things in the other covered sitting area. After we were set up we discovered that in the roof of the dwelling was a mouse nest. For an area that is so heavily populated it is not well maintained if a huge mouse nest was in the dwelling. We were moving our things out of this area when we discovered 2 Arizona bark scorpions. These scorpions are the most poisonous scorpions in existence, and are fatal to small children, which we were with 2 of. After this discovery we promptly left the area. I hope that this beautiful area is better maintained in the future.
  • Love our park its beautiful and comfortable to fish camp or just have a vacation.
