Stopped by here on a hot day, and really enjoyed the shade! The zoo is small, but you're right up on top of the exhibits, which is great with the big cats. The kids got a kick out of a raccoon who'd g... more »

Im glad Victoria has a Zoo. I arrived there in time today to see them feed the 2 Lions (sisters). They were gorgeous animals and somewhat intimidating (as an adult i now understand their power). The w... more »

We recently became members and have been going every week this summer. It's such a nice little zoo for little ones, especially with the train rides offered on the weekends. I have two kids under the a... more »

The zoo is smaller than most, but it's easy to interact and have a closer look at the animals here than any other zoo I've been to. Felt like the staff certainly enjoyed their jobs and were knowledgeable when we asked questions. There just seemed to be too few staff members. They were mostly cleaning and tending to the animals so they weren't very available for attendees. Reptile exhibit was full of snakes that are local to Texas. It was warm inside the building, but the adorable out of place baby black squirrel made us forget that. Loved being able to walk through the aviary, but wished the nectar feeding area was opened. Cashier told us the nectar feeding cage closed because the fencing wasn't good enough to keep the little birds in. The facilities in general felt run down, and leaning toward inadequate. That's why four stars instead of five. The petting zoo was... different. Two emus, sheep and a deer. It's fenced without entry. You're basically lined up on a deck, feeding these animals bird seed through the railings. Careful for those emus. I don't recommend letting kids feed them.

I personally think that some of the animals are miserable. The tiger is very aggressive and doesn't seem happy in my opinion, I've had it roar at me and come running at the window, I think maybe she has some type of anxiety from being stuck in that small space. To say that a Jaguar that paces back and forth in a small exhibit is happy is completely obscured! They need more space!! Why not move them where the monkeys once were!? The lion's are the only big cats with a decent exhibit for their size.. Even the red wolf and coyote pace the fence. They never play and we go often! This zoo has so much potential, where is the effort!? Every time we've gone (morning or evening) we were never given any information or anything on the zoo or it's animals. We simply go for the lion's and the deer for our son and a place to sit and pass time. 20 mins and you can see the whole zoo...

Small but really great for small children. Very manageable for about 1.5 hour visit on a weekday morning - get in, see everything, get out in time for nap : ). Staff are great about talking to kids and if you get there in the morning you will get to see them feeding and bringing the animals out of their night houses. They add different items to enrich the environment for each animal and will explain to you why and how they do what they do. For example, the jaguars were fascinated by a pine tree sprayed in...ocelot urine. Weird but fascinating to little boys.

This is an awesome zoo! It's small, but has lots of animals and exhibits. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They even have a mini train ride through the zoo. We spent about 2 hours here, we visited some animals more than once. Will definitely be going back to visit again.
