National Music Museum Reviews
Enjoyed my stop at the National Music Museum, prompted on a bitter-cold December day as a result of some terrific & frequent advertising along my drive on the 29. This site is more about the instrumen... more »
This place was fantastic! The people were so friendly. The collection had instruments I have never even heard of. There were also original pieces, one of a kind, and those of several famous musicians.... more »
This museum is in a former Carnegie Library. Gorgeous building. The collection of instruments was actually shocking. We just pulled in there to get off the highway. They have the most interesting item... more »
The museum is very well designed. The self guided tour included electronic devices that link to audio or visual files that explain the museum exhibits. They have an excellent collection of instruments. I took my 8 year old son and 6 year old daughter. They thought it was awesome and really enjoyed the experience. We were the only ones in the museum. I can imagine it would get quickly crowded if a large group came through as the exhibit rooms are quite small. If you are a fan of music or a musician, you would probably enjoy it quite a bit, as I did. Finally, the staff I interacted with were excellent.
Wonderful place for anyone interested in the history of instruments from all over the world. A free self-guided audio tour is included. I got there at 2 and it closes at 5. 3 hours is definitely not enough time to spend in this fantastic Museum!
Much more interesting than I expected. They give you earphones and a player so you can pick different instruments to hear and listen to a description. Some really interesting instruments from around the world.
World Class selection of instruments. Everything from 500 year old lyres to a Marlin guitar used 29 times. Unique gifts and great service.
Great museum even if you are not very musical inclined. It was very interesting and informative. Make sure to ask for the iPod audio tour thing since it makes the experience so much better. It allows you to hear what some of the instruments sound like and see some of the instruments being played.
