  • We were in Ventura for a conference and had an opportunity to attend Mass at Mission San Buenaventura. The mission is lovely and still reflects the church as it was built by St. Junipero Serra...  more »
  • Located right downtown (with an unusually high number of thrift shops for some reason), with free parking near the Museum of Ventura Country. Small admission fee gets you into the museum and grounds.....  more »
  • This was my second time visiting the mission the first time it was with my mom. It was great to visit this place again.  more »

  • On my Mission pilgrimage up the coast. San Buenaventura is a nice visit. It's not as big as the other Missions but lots of historic artifacts to make up for its size. The church is breathtaking with the Pieta and Main Altar. Weddings and church services were going on, will visit again when not so much activity, weekdays are better.
  • This was father Sierra and the help of the locals to build this beautiful Church in this area. It located in the center of the heart of Ventura, surrounded by local stores and shops. From the front of this church, you can see the beautiful beach in short walking distance. Closed by, there were Museum and the park also the City Hall in a close walking distance. This is a beautiful Church as you can find them from the Southern to Northern of California along with the coastal areas. Next, to the church, there was a small gift shop that sells the pictures or related to religious memorials. I am a fan of The Mission Church, I have been visiting most of the Mission along California, and love all of them. I like the old styles and how they are built. The statutes and the altars are beautiful and the craftsmanship also incredible, that you could not find anywhere. Will be visiting more of these Mission Church any opportunity that I can.
  • Beautiful and historic.... Enjoyed soaking in the atmosphere and the wedding was fun too☺ only wish that air-conditioning had been invented when it was built.
  • The entrance ISBN the gift shop & there is no handicap accessible entrance. However the gift shop was nice & at least had one or two Chumash items. Didn't get a chance to c inside Wasn't able to get walker up steep steps.
  • We drove south and saw several California Missions. This is a little smaller than some of the others and is very well maintained. The inside is fancier than some of the others and is still an active church. The historical displays help explain the importance of the Missions to the history and development of California. This is a peaceful place to visit and also enjoy the gardens.
