Venice Municipal Beach, Venice

(4.2/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
At Venice Municipal Beach--reputedly the shark-tooth capital of the world--take time to swim, go scuba diving, relax on the broad expanse of sand, and beachcomb for fossilized shark's teeth that make the beach famous. From the shore or the boardwalk, watch for bottlenose dolphins frolicking in the water. If you are a diver, paddle out 400 m (0.25 mi) to explore the coral reef. Stroll along the Venice pier, where you can fish, take in the view, or grab a hot dog from the bait shop. For a more substantial meal, head to Sharky's on the pier for shrimp and chips or lobster-stuffed flounder. Work out when and for how long to visit Venice Municipal Beach and other Venice attractions using our handy Venice trip generator.

  • Less crowded than the beach in Santa Monica, what makes Venice Beach. Pretty surfers and swimmers, even during times that are not summer.
