The Point Robinson Light is an operational aid to navigation and historic lighthouse on Puget Sound, located at Point Robinson, the easternmost point of Maury Island, King County, in the U.S. state of Washington. The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.HistoryDevelopment of a navigational aid at Point Robinson began in 1884, when the Lighthouse Service purchased 24 acres there for $1,000. Construction of a fog signal station began that year with the facility seeing dedication on July 1, 1885. The original boiler and 12-inch steam whistle came from Oregon's Point Adams Light. A one-and-a-half-story keeper's house was built nearby. A second keeper's quarters was constructed in 1907.The point's first light arrived in 1887, when a lens lantern, shining persistent red, was attached to a 25ft post. In 1894, the post was replaced by an open wooden tower which held the light at 31ft. The current lighthouse was built in 1915, a twin of the Alki Point Lighthouse. With its 38ft tower and fifth-order Fresnel lens, the light could be seen 12mi. The flashing pattern is on for three seconds, off for one second, on for another three seconds, and off for five seconds. The light was automated in 1978, using the original fifth-order Fresnel lens. In 2008, the Coast Guard replaced the original Fresnel light with a replaceable plastic beacon mounted outside the lantern room. The original Fresnel lens remains in the lantern room where it can be viewed by visitors.

  • Captain Joe gave us a private tour and I swear this guy knows not just everything about this lighthouse but an unbelievable amount about lighthouses everywhere, even answering my questions about light...  more »
  • A short walk down through the woods on a wet and leaf-strewn damp path takes you to the tiny (still working!) lighthouse. You can't go in but it is still peaceful to walk around. Lots of weathered log...  more »
  • Great place to take a short walk/hike Well kept area very quiet and peaceful. Definitely worth checking out if you were on the island. Cool to watch the boats go by. Nice place to take pictures.  more »

  • A great place for a walk on the beach, you've got to visit the rustic lighthouse. It's a great photo opportunity. They also have lots of picnic areas with tables and benches.
  • Great little day trip. Note, the little visitor's center at the bottom of the light house was closed when we went over MLK weekend. We took the ferry from West Seattle and walked around the beach. Don't forget to check out the little park with the giant stone sun dial next to the upper parking lot
  • I've seen better. The seal stole the show. 😀
  • Bring your muck boots if it's fall! Beautiful park and the lighthouse is a treat if you come during the weekend tours. Peaceful place to sit and enjoy the Puget sound and take in the views. Drive down the hill for handicap parking.
  • Absolutely beautiful. The keepers quarters B is perfect for small families. Full kitchen, sitting room with great views, full bathroom and two bedrooms upstairs. Rollaways available in the closets as well. The walks along the shore are spectacular. Peaceful little spot with a view of Mt. Rainier.
