  • Visited November 4, 2017 about 1:30pm; 280 acre park with 145 acre lake (trolling motor only); it was a Saturday with temps around 60; camping - 53 full hook-up sites; 87 electric sites; 10 non-electr...  more »
  • Stayed in a cabin and went fishing...pretty simple and we had a blast even though it rained half of the time. Great bass fishing off the docks and in a boat. Can't wait to go back.  more »
  • We camped in the full hook up section, which was a good experience. Camp sites were for the most part fairly level and paved. Park was clean and maintained. Will put this on our list of favorite place...  more »
  • It was lovely. The view of the lake from our camping spot was amazing. It rained while were were there. It was muddy and we had puddles, but we didn't get terribly flooded. (Electric Spot 67) If I had arrived there while it was raining I don't think I'd be too upset. I've seen muddier! There were plenty of trees. We were able to hang our hammock and lounger in the trees. We weren't as crowded as those who chose to camp on the water. The lake seemed overgrown, and we're not talking about the beautiful lily pads. the Vegetation could be seen on top of the water on some spots. There was better fishing to be had on kayaks and such. Otherwise if you weren't careful, you ended up with a lot of vegetation snagging your line. I think I kayaked about 3 times. That's a record for me on one camping trip. We had great ramp access from within the campground to the water. they had great access for fishing as well. We enjoyed so much of the lake and our campsite that we never made it to the trails. We were bummed that campstore was only open on the weekends, but they had a decent system for people needing the essentials: Ice, bait, and wood. We could always purchase it from the main gate as long as they were open. Controlling the vegetation in the lake and a bit cleaner/nicer comfort station is all I could ask for right now. (The status of the comfort station was at least sufficient)
  • Our family considers this our home camp ground. My husband went there as a child and took me 4 years ago to see it. Fell in love with it, so we take our grandkids ages 3 - 10 camping. We go to Starve Hollow every other month and somewhere else the opposite month. They love it.
  • Quiet camping not too far from civilization. You definitely feel in touch with the great outdoors. There is a nice beach, beautiful scenery, and playground for the kids. Plenty of great fishing and excellent trails for hikers.
  • Really like the campground. I consider it a 5 star. Just hit the wrong button.
  • Gorgeous place to camp. Love finding a spot right on the water. So serene. Great trails, fishing, boating, kayaking, swimming!
