Experience what is considered to be one of the most picturesque lighthouses in the United States when you visit Split Rock Lighthouse. Sitting on the edge of a cliff that juts out into the water, this National Historic Landmark offers photo opportunities as well as historical background. Take the tour of the lighthouse, which brings you into the keepers' houses and up to the top, or explore on your own with the help of plentiful signs and posted information. For the best views of the lighthouse, hike down to the rocky beach below using either the stairs or the trail. Put Split Rock Lighthouse on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Two Harbors road trip planning site.
Split Rock Lighthouse reviews
OK visit. Walked to the top of the lighthouse. Would have been nice to have someone at the top to help point out details of the lighthouse and the view of the lake more »
It is an amazing spit with a storied history. The grounds pass is well worth the money and you have an amazing view of Lake Superior and learn about the inner workings of the lighthouse. more »
We really enjoyed the movie which gave us lots of history about the lighthouse and the area. Great lighthouse. more »
I didn't think $8 was worth be at this covid time
Absolutely fascinating and the view is breaking, it felt like we were in a scene from a movie!!!
Beautiful lighthouse in Northern Minnesota. Short hikes down to the lake for the best views of the lake house. No charge for entry during winter but all actual lighthouse buildings are closed, you can just walk around outside. The visitor center is still open.
Didn't care for the additional $8 per person charge to see the lighthouse. This is a state park and I paid for an annual pass. Could not even enter the gift house or use the restroom without buying a pass.
Do not let the cost of this attraction deter you!! The views are worth every penny!!! The staff here are all so pleasant and helpful. One staff member suggested the trail to pebble beach and honestly that was one of the most beautiful views I’ve experienced. Parking is ample and there are bathrooms available. I would love to visit again. The kids loved the faux fog horn sound. What an experience!
