Tucson Botanical Gardens, Tucson

(700+ reviews on the web)
Garden Nature / Park
Tucson Botanical Gardens is divided into themed gardens, including the xeriscape garden, which features a lush plot with low water usage. The gardens were the brainchild of horticulturalist Harrison G. Yocum, and they had two other temporary locations. But in 1974, Bernice Porter was looking for a way to save her home and its surrounding gardens, and the two merged. In a guided or self-guided tour, visit the backyard bird garden to discover how to bring hummingbirds, cardinals and other birds into your garden. Walk through to the children's discovery garden to learn about the lifecycle of a plant. Stop by Cafe Botanica for lunch, choosing from a seasonal menu using ingredients from the gardens. • I had my dad's memorial here at porter hall and the reception garden. It's beautiful place with a calm atmosphere and polite staff. Parking gets crowded at times, but a Fry's parking lot just down the road works fine if their lot is full.
  • Took my daughter and her friend to the Family Fun Day with the Rodeo Days theme. They had a wonderful time. The activities were well organized and fun. The volunteers were so kind and helpful. We also spent a lot of time in the Butterfly Gardens exhibit. So glad we were able to enjoy it before it closes in April.
  • Went in a field trip here recently and was pleasantly surprised with all of the recent upgrades. Creative exhibits and displays, helpful staff, easy to park and a top notch gift shop. Next time I want to try their cafe'!
  • Fun place to walk around. Beautiful plants, colorful exhibits. I loved the butterfly garden- there were so many pretty butterflies flying around, more than other butterfly gardens I've been to. Great place! Check it out if you are in the area!
  • Truly enjoyed my dining experience. Great staff. Appropriate music. Delicious entrees and dessert.
