  • If you want to rest and relax, this is the place. It does not cost a thing to hike, fish or paddle. You can even camp (out in the forest) for free. If you prefer to comfort camp the campgrounds are a ...  more »
  • Local to Charlotte with enough development to be comfortable, but not so much as to distract. There are hiking trails that are well marked and well maintained.  more »
  • Badin Lake is so beautiful and we loved our visit! We will go back and plan to take a picnic lunch. Lots of shade and picnic tables.  more »
  • You will be shocked at the beauty that is not to far away. Its a hidden gem amongst North Carolina piedmont area. Go there at least once. But once you do you will return. I have been going here for about 20 some years now
  • Cabin rentals were 100% ON POINT. Highly recommend going here for a very QUIET getaway. Don't expect to do very much. Cabins were studio-style setup, and full kitchen. There were no 4-wheeler rental joints anywhere in the area; if you like doing that, you'll have to bring your own. Go to the Stony Mountain Vineyard for wine tasting! You will not be disappointed.
  • We took a trip here for Mother's Day. We love going on adventures and finding places to hike and enjoy nature. We went to Morrow Mountain State Park and did one of the hiking trails. There are so many to choose from. Pets are allowed if they are leased. Have a horse? You can even bring your horse! I have ancestors that lived in this area. My 2nd great grandparents, along with other family members, are buried around the National Forest. We'll be back for more adventures, for sure!
  • Beautiful place if you like the outdoors. Not a lot of stores nearby. Great place to get away from everything and spend time with natural North Carolina
  • Great variety of camping options and activities. Clean. Nice gun range. Lots of narrow dirt roads to navigate though.
