Mission Point Lighthouse, Traverse City

This is a great old light house. The drive out from traverse city goes through some amazing vineyards and local orchards. In the summer time you will see many local fruit and vegetable stands as well as lots of activity in the fields. In the wintertime it is quiet and the views are amazing due to the trees with out leaves. The light house in the summer is great, But I actually like it in the winter time better. You stand on the shores looking out over the ice and it looks like the end of the world. If it is a good year the Ice will pile up and make some great caves and mounds, hard to believe the strength of the wind and waves to move such large pieces of Ice. Very cool place, very quiet in the wintertime.

What an experience, also went up to the top of the lighthouse. Everyone should experience it. 5 dollars is a good deal. The folks running the lighthouse are super friendly.

Absolutely beautiful at the very tip top end of the peninsula. Highly recommend watching the sunrise here. It is beyond stunning. The beach is sandy and nice, they also have bathrooms here

The breathtaking beauty of old mission peninsula is crowned by the old lighthouse at the very end of the land. Today the bay was quiet with only little wavelets gently lapping the shore. Being that it's Fall, the trees were outfitted in the splendor. As one drives up the peninsula, one is treated to spectacular views stretching out across the bay on both sides. Yeah, today was a soul fulfilling event.

If you go during the summer months, be sure to bring your swimsuit!! We go here every year around the 4th of July and spend the entire day just lounging around. The water is a perfect temperature and the beach is pretty clean! Some bugs, but nothing a little bug spray wont fix.
