  • Very popular, minimal visitor center, but the view is fabulous. We stopped all along the road at the overlooks, so this was our final stop and had the best views. LOTS of schoolkids on field trips.  more »
  • The place is well built and works well with crowds of kids. The movie is a must. At the end they move the screen to give you a view of Mt/ St Helens.  more »
  • Much better than the Forest Education Center, which is basically an advertisement for the logging industry. The rangers are helpful, knowledgable and friendly...as always. We did a couple of short trai...  more »

  • Wicked views of the north end of the erupted Mount saint Helens and those lava channels. Come in the early morning to get nice pictures and the if you're lucky the early morning mist and see, makes for neat photo opts. Ample parking, and cool information. Some old petrified trees along the way, aftermath of the eruption. And you can see along the way the trees replanted. Great progress in restoration. Worth the drive.
  • We got there a little late to catch the movies but still was able to listen to a ranger tell us all about this amazing mountain. The area around her is beautiful. Go early pack a lunch as there is maybe 1 resturant near the bottom to eat at.
  • Gorgeous views of Mount Saint Helens from here. I suggest walking around and looking at the trails with that are not far from here. You can't go wrong taking pictures from any direction.
  • Cool spot to view and learn about Mt. St Helens... Stopped in while hiking the Mount Margaret wilderness along trail 1. Worth the 14 mile day hike!
  • First of all, mount saint Helens is incredibly interesting and the observatory gives you everything you want to know about it. The rangers are very knowledgeable and the building it's self is a beautiful piece of architecture. Be sure to look at how the volcanic blast blew trees over. It's really surreal.
