  • The story of St. Helens volcanic eruption in 1980 and is very exciting in itself, but to stand and watch mountain massif is still something special. We were unfortunately a day with some clouds, why we could not see the top. It is probably also what is decisive for the missing fifth star. It is also interesting to walk along the paths up by the Observatory. It is clear to see, the large outbreaks have had enormous consequences for plant life. There is much bart, and the little plant growth, that is, have not many years old. At the centre there is also an interesting exhibition on the one hand and, on the other hand, St. Helens volcanism in General. Of course, there is also the opportunity to buy souvenirs. If you have plans to visit several national parks (three or more), it is a consider worth investing in a season pass to all of America's national parks. It's called America the Beautiful Pass and can be acquired on site for approximately 80 USD.

  • Beautiful place. The sheer size of mountain and the aftermath of last eruption makes you feel very humble. Facilities are good, a small gift shop. A mini movie theatre. Good trails.
  • Most beautiful view of the St. Helens ever. You must go on a sunny day to enjoy the views. There are guided trips from here. Ample parking spaces and visitor center is informative. The road leading to observatory is spectacular and great for motorcycle riders. On the way, there are various view points each offering great lookouts for St. Helens. Great place. On the way back do stop at spirit lake and further enjoy the day!
  • Hard to describe the awe you feel when you see an active volcano right in front of your face. The parking is free, the viewing areas around the volcano are free. There is a charge if you want to go into the observation complex. It only costs 8 for people 16 and older and it's worth it. They show a lot of the scientific equipment and have movies and cool displays. What a fun trip.
  • This is one of Washington State's must see attractions. It has an incredible view of the mountain and continuously running educational sessions led by Park Rangers. The interactive museum is lots of fun and very informative.
  • This is hands down the best view of Mount St Helens! The view is awe inspiring. The visitor's center has a knowledgeable staff, a nice little gift shop, tons of information on the volcano and survivor accounts. The video is nice with a great view at the end. The ranger talks and guided tours are a nice touch, too. You can tell they all love sharing what they know about this area. Can't wait to visit again!
