The entrance to the Ted Ensley Gardens is our Trailhead shelter and restroom located just north of 37th and West Edge Rd. From there you walk through a beautiful 60 ft. covered bridge over a rocky stream. Then you stroll on the sidewalks through a meditation garden, rock gardens, many annual and perennial beds, rose gardens, and water gardens. There is also a gazebo, pergola, waterfalls, streams, and several ponds.

The Ted Ensley Gardens are a great place to take in the beauty of nature. The Horticulturists, with the assistance of volunteers plant more than 80,000 Tulips and Daffodils that are in full bloom for the annual Tulip Time in Topeka. In May more than 90,000 annuals are planted in beds throughout the gardens.

  • It is an experience that would be hard to out do in this area of the country. Peaceful and colorful with nature's best in the way of flowers and large green trees that sway in the breeze. The sounds of nature we all love to hear are clear and calming.
  • Gorgeous! Passing through and took a random stop here. Very scenic with access to garden, lake, and waterfall views. Walked our dogs and they loved weaving through the gardens too. Would 100% recommend checking this place out.
  • Such a great place. Shelter house was nice, bathrooms open and clean, with running water and working hand dryers. Don't need to reserve it, open for public use.The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. Highly recommend for a leisurely stroll, or a picnic gathering for 30 to 50 people.
  • Beautiful relaxing walk. Well worth the visit. We did it in hot summer. Spring or Fall will be the perfect time to visit. Take a picnic lunch...
  • This is a beautiful lush garden on a small picturesque lake. Perfect for an afternoon stroll amongst beautiful flowers, and green rolling lawns. Plentiful benches and seating to relax in the sun while taking in The view.
