Visit Tombstone Courthouse State Historic Park for a glimpse into the history of the Old West in this historic silver mining town. The two-story brick structure that looks like a Roman cross was once Cochise County's jail, and included courtrooms and offices for the sheriff, treasurer, and board of supervisors. Built in 1882, it now houses exhibits that describe life for the miners, cattlemen, and pioneers who built Tombstone. Exhibits include a tax license for the operation of a brothel, a replica of the original gallows that stood in the courthouse courtyard, and many examples of firearms owned and used by the pioneers during the mining boom. The site offers numerous shaded picnic areas. Make Tombstone Courthouse State Historic Park a centerpiece of your Tombstone vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Tombstone holiday planner.

  • If you are out in Arizona visit the city if Tombstone. You will journey back in the days of bar fights, dancing girls and stagecoach rides. Fun way to spend a few hours  more »

  • Lots and lots of history here, very neat to see the courtroom and the gallows. Allow yourself at least 30-45 minutes to walk around and look.  more »

  • Cool artifacts and the employees were dressed up in clothes that matched the time period the place was in use. Don't bring in your stroller. There isn't enough room when it's crowded. And don't forget to check out the gallows.
  • Wonderful way to spend an afternoon. The history is well presented, and dialogue easily understood and informative. Well worth the visit.
  • A must see tons of history very interesting staff very friendly and can answer questions gift shop has lots of nice things to pick from.
  • Very neat to see lots of history. The building is beautiful but a bit creepy. The gallows are out back but are rebuilt.
  • If I'm being honest, I'm a bit disappointed... I made a 34 mile detour at the tail end of my 900 mile drive to check out tombstone and the very first thing I see (after passing a border patrol security check point, of course) is a Circle K. That should have given me an idea what to expect here... I HAD been expecting something more pure, more preserved. Alas, like everything else in our country, everyone tries to capitalize on tourism and being trendy and turned something that could be great...that WAS great, into a tourist trap. At least the sunset was pretty. Go visit Bodie, CA, if you want authentic Old West.
