Consider yourself invited to explore the Tillamook State Forest.

The Tillamook Forest Center is a special place to develop a deeper connection with Oregon’s forests through experience and exploration. Located in the heart of the Tillamook State Forest, the center showcases the legacy of the historic Tillamook Burn and the public spirit behind a monumental reforestation effort that left a permanent imprint on Oregon history while also shaping sustainable forest management today. We’re the region’s largest forest-based learning center and outdoor classroom facility, located 50 miles west of Portland and 22 miles east of Tillamook on Oregon Highway 6.

  • This is a great place for a weekend visit with the family. There are well maintained trails for hiking and it is right on the Wilson River. A fire lookout tower at the entrance of the forest center gives you a great view of the property from above. You can pick up souvenirs at the gift shop and there are lots of cool exhibits inside for you to enjoy. As you exit the back of the center you will find a seating area that connects with a footbridge where you can enjoy the beautiful views and the soothing sound of the river below. You will not hear the traffic from the highway thanks to the planning and location of the building. So bring the kids and have a wonderful day at the Tillamook Forest Center.
  • Very disappointing. My husband was stranded without cell service and was experiencing issues with his truck. He was given a ride here by some kind people who saw him struggling by the side of the highway. He used the PAY phone at this location trying to get help until he was out of change....they refused to let him use their perfectly functioning regular phone to call for assistance. They also have internet, and refused to allow him to access the wifi to continue trying to figure out how he could get home. How terrible must you be to watch someone absolutely soaked to the core with rain trying to just get help to be able to come home to his wife and infant daughter and refuse to be even a little bit accommodating? I'm appalled. I can't fathom what sort of human being would care so little.
  • Outstanding facility. I love to just spend time in the Tillamook Forest...one of the planet's great treasures in my opinion.
  • This is a super fun place to go but i have been there like 40 times so it got old but really cool when you see it for the first time. A lot of history of the Tillamook forest, they also have a small documentary on the history of fires in the forest. You could also get some souvenirs from the gift shop. They also have a fire tower you can walk up cool view and some cool stuff inside of the tower.
  • Amazing exhibits and extremely well maintained.
