  • My family and I visited the Catoctin Zoo over the weekend. We have a 3 year old and a 5 month old. We also met my parents there. My first impression upon exiting the gift shop where you buy tickets, i...  read more »
  • Amazing day for children and adults as well! Lots of hands on with animals - rest stops - little playgrounds etc.
  • Just loved the zoo first time there. Loved seeing the new arrivals the little babies to cute. Keep up the great job.
  • From someone who has experience in animal care and managing a zoological facility, I was very disturbed by my visit to this zoo. When you keep animals, you have an obligation to do what's best for the animals. I was shocked to see so many baby animals when this facility obviously doesn't even have the capacity to take care of the adults. I understand how hard it is to keep enclosures clean. I do. But all of the animals' water dishes - the ones I could see - were filthy. Keeping their water fresh is such a simple task. The only staff I saw were in the parakeet cage. Next time you visit, look at the necks of the deer. They have abrasions from sticking their necks through the wire. I will not be supporting this zoo ever again. I would recommend you consider carefully what kind of organization you give your money to. They need to be shut down.
  • Terrible! The cages are extremelly small for this wild animals. It is cruel and I find very sad the living conditions of this poor animals. I went with my grandkids and they did not have a good time at all. It was Very disapointed to see that this animals dont have room to move. It is really cruel!
  • I find myself very conflicted. I got to be closer to many animals than I would have normally been but that's due to smallish enclosures. Not cruel, bit it just didn't seem roomy. The animals all seemed super healthy and there were babies everywhere, but it wasn't spacious. I loved how nestled in the woods it was. Facilities left a lot to be desired
  • This zoo has been a disgrace for years in my opinion. Animals enclosures way too small sometimes even lacking water. Dirty. I found it very disturbing. Can't believe it's been allowed to keep open for so many years with conditions like this. It has to be a hell for some of these animals
  • Nice small zoo. Some areas seemed too small for some animals, but overall the experience was great and employees were very attentive. The gift shop was surprisingly good...wide variety and good prices.
