  • This is a very well-run small museum dedicated to the life and work of a little known (or little remembered) American, Henry Knox, the first Secretary of War under George Washington and the man who Fo...  more »
  • The mansion takes you back to yesteryear with it's history of Gen. Knox, his family and the other famous forefathers of our country whom he associated with. Attention to detail of the period of the house is not only beautiful but on point as well.
  • We just happened to stop and were very impressed. The museum curator actually toured us through the home, and he was incredibly gracious and very knowledgeable. He even drew us out a map on the back of a brochure because we didn't have a cell signal. The house and grounds are very nice and we learned a lot about Henry Knox and his peers. Time well spent. Definitely recommend!
  • We did not know the connection between Henry Knox and George Washington. Thank you for the history lesson. We're also looking forward to reading the book, "Shoot like a girl". More history we didn't know about. The house is in fine condition, well furnished and I would definitely come back to view the finished result.
  • Great tour. We were greeted by Bailey, who was in period costume. We were thrilled at the very detailed, informative tour that we were given by Mary. She was an excellent tour guide. Definitely worth the visit.
  • I was interested in this place based on what little I know about Knox. However, #1 this place was closed, even though it was a little after 10 and the website and signage said they opened at 10. #2 it's in really bad shape outside, and the house is not original. There are a few signs around the outside which we read (because the house wasn't open and nobody came out to welcome us or notice us while we walked the grounds). The signs clearly show that they have plans to expand the site. In my opinion if they want to be able to expand they need to open the museum on time every day and encourage people to spend time and money there. Fundraisers are desperately needed from the looks of things. It's sad, really.
