  • This site is truly in the middle of nowhere. However, it is worthwhile. I have traveled to many places and never saw anything like this in my life. It is amazing that it is open to the public and is f...  more »
  • Rock legend deserves to be presented something. Because it is unique and almost no tourists known (what is possibly just as well) who cares for the archaeology is an absolute highlight legend rock petroglyph site, Wyoming legend rock is one of the oldest and best examples of Dinwoody tradition. There are almost 300 petroglyphs that were cut for several thousand years in the stone. These drawings are really fascinating. Exactly when they were made and by the who just don't know one hundred percent and will probably also never out to get it. Who wants to visit the facility, legend rock is located approximately 30 miles northwest of Thermopolis and is easy to reach with a Mietfahreug.

  • We are so glad that we went here. It is not huge, and is an easy walk to the petroglyphs. Take your time to read a bit about it and absorb the history.  more »

  • It was really cool to see. Just remember that it's a good drive out. Enjoy the scenery on the way.
  • If you are interested in petroglyphs, take the time to drive to this isolated spot and imagine traveling back in time to when these petroglyphs were made. There are no facilities nearby. Bring water. There is a gate that may or may not be padlocked, so call the Thermopolis Hot Springs State Park front desk to inquire. There is a short hike from the parking lot to the path that will allow you to get quite close to the hundreds of images on the rock faces of a cliff running alongside the creek. The gravel road is maintained and small signs will direct you to Legend Rock.
  • Nice path with informative signs to help you understand what you're look at.
  • We saw this on Ancient Aliens and we had to see it in person, it was very cool, we drove out to the middle of nowhere, it’s hard to believe ancient people lived out there because there is nothing for miles. By the way, I also saw a rattlesnake so be very careful.
  • Make sure to get a pamphlet at the trailhead. It explains a lot about the petroglyphs. The trail takes about 20 min to complete; it's about a quarter mile long or less. There is a river on the other side of the trail, but I didn't find a trail down to it, and I didn't want to blaze one.
