Rotta Winery, Templeton

#6 of 10 in Things to do in Templeton
Winery / Vineyard Food & Drink
Rotta Winery, founded in 1908 by the Rotta Family, is the only remaining family owned “original” winery in San Luis Obispo County. Mike Giubbini, grandson to the Rotta Family & Mark Caporale of Napa, have combined their talents to “bring back to life” the historic and rustic winery.

Today, Rotta Winery, just as in days of old, specializes in premium red and white wines along with flavorful and distinct dessert wines.

  • My partner fell in love with their port wine. All their other selections we great too but the favorite was the Black Minnuka dessert wine.  more »
  • This was the third winery we hit and the last wine we had here was my favorite of the day (I believe it was the port). The staff was nice and attentive. I'd highly recommend visiting.  more »
  • First time here and they were very welcoming. The wine was great and the staff knowledgeable. There is a long and interesting history. They offer barrel tasting but you need to set up ahead of time. D...  more »
  • Rotta Winery is one of the oldest wineries in the area, established in 1908. The staff was excellent, giving an overview of the wineries history. They have a collection of old bottles that were used in the distant years by customers. The grounds have whale bone fossils from when the area was covered in water.
  • Really fun to hang out here. They have some really cool swings having from a giant tree, some lawn games, and tons of hang out places. We found a great spot outside and they brought our tastings out to us!! That have an amazing Sauv Blanc. My fav was the Leather & Lace fortified Zin port.
  • Excellent value tasting; friendly staff; interesting wines. Definitely worth a visit.
  • Went to winery on Monday, 4/25/16. One of the oldest wineries in Paso, wines are excellent. Ended up joining club giving us a nice 30% discount on wines Tip: Buy a bottle of wine and tasting fee is waived
  • We love Rotta - we go every time we're in the area and joined the wine club. Haven't tasted a wine there we didn't like. Each time we go they are very friendly and take the time to explain about each wine. We always have a great time and highly recommend stopping by!
