Wildlife Area
Meet feathered friends who have been injured and are now in the process of rehabilitation at Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center. The center aims to release birds back into the wild, but also provides shelter for the birds that cannot be released. To educate the public on peaceful coexistence with wild birds, the center provides information on its work. The self-guided tour leads you along the boardwalk--where each aviary is marked--and gives general information on the particular species, as well as more specific details about the rescued bird. You are welcome to get close to the birds but remember that they are wild; some may not want to interact with people. • We had not stopped here since Sept 2015. We brought some British friends here to see the rehabilitation of the birds at the wild bird center. They do a wonderful job here and they have fixed the place...  more »
  • Not a very large place. Most animals are caged. Has a walking area but it is tiny. The variety of caged animals is limited to maybe around a dozen. Enjoyed our visit as this is probably not a big tour...  more »
  • We have visited several times because we love the work they do there. It is a little creepy (as my niece says) when you first get back in there because the walk around was a little dark from overcast ...  more »
