Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center, Tavernier

(4.5/5 based on 950+ reviews on the web)
Meet feathered friends who have been injured and are now in the process of rehabilitation at Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center. The center aims to release birds back into the wild, but also provides shelter for the birds that cannot be released. To educate the public on peaceful coexistence with wild birds, the center provides information on its work. The self-guided tour leads you along the boardwalk--where each aviary is marked--and gives general information on the particular species, as well as more specific details about the rescued bird. You are welcome to get close to the birds but remember that they are wild; some may not want to interact with people. • Lots of birds alongside a few walkways and paths. Easy access, family friendly.
  • The birds are very well taken care off and the sanctuary doesn't have a cage-like feel to it. It's a good drive up there and the Keys are worth a visit, so make sure you stop by and say hi to my favourite birdies- Gizmo, Fredricka and Flip and Flop!
  • Very well done facility. Caring for a lot of injured birds. Very interesting to visit.
  • Great place to learn more about birds, watch them and even be very close to the wild ones coming to the place. We always stop here on our way to key West. Make sure to go to the end of the trail to see a great view of the sea from the mangrove.
  • Very nice place to visit. It is a very good place to show to your kids. Well done to all staff & Lucy
