Taos Art Museum, Taos

4.7
#2 of 7 in Museums in Taos
The Taos Art Museum is dedicated to the art of early twentieth century Taos and the patrons who have nurtured and preserved it for the future. The museum's Board and Trustees are focused on bringing Taos art back to Taos to be exhibited in the place where it was created. The museum is housed in the studio and home that artist Nicolai Fechin built for his family between 1927 and 1933. The heart of the museum is a collection of paintings by the masters of the Taos Society of Artists.

One of the best museums in Taos. Love the house, history and anything that is showing.

Noted Russian artist Nikolai Fechin's home converted to a beautiful museum. Furniture and architectural elements created by the artist abound. Amazing collection of works from original Taos Society artists. A must see if you are ever in the area.

This used to be the Fechin Inn, we spent our honeymoon there, just an amazing building and fun place to visit.

Where to stay in Taos

Taos offers a wealth of accommodations right in town and in the surrounding area. Plenty of small inns, bed and breakfasts, and hotels lie in and around the business district, but your options greatly expand when you consider renting a small house or an apartment. Where you stay depends on what you come for. If you want to use Taos as a base for seeing local sites, opt for accommodation within the city limits. If you plan to spend most of your time in the mountains, the Valdez and Arroyo Seco areas are convenient. Staying between these areas and downtown puts you close to the Taos Pueblo Indian Lands.
