Ybor City Museum State Park is a Florida State Park in Tampa, Florida's Ybor City. The museum occupies the former Ferlita Bakery (originally La Joven Francesca) building at 1818 9th Avenue in the Ybor City Historic District. The bakery was known for producing cuban bread and its ovens are part of the museum displays covering the history of the cigar industry and the Latin community from the 1880s through the 1930s. There is also an ornamental garden in the building (available for rental after regular hours).HistoryThere is some debate about the true source of "real" Cuban bread, with both Miami and Tampa, Florida claiming to be the true home. The earliest U.S. bakery to produce Cuban bread was most likely La Joven Francesca bakery, established in 1896 by the Sicilian-born Francisco Ferlita, a Cuban-Spanish-Italian immigrant. Bread sold for 3 to 5 cents a loaf, mainly to the Ybor City market. The bakery was destroyed by fire in 1922 leaving only the brick bread oven standing. Francisco rebuilt the bakery even larger than before, added a second oven, and it became a major supplier of bread for the Tampa/Ybor area. The bakery also became a place to congregate, drink a good cup of Cuban coffee, and catch up on the local news.Put Ybor City State Museum and other Tampa attractions into our Tampa travel itinerary planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

Nice staff at the place. Video there was 20 minutes. Nice little tidbits about the development of Ybor. Cheap to go into also. If you are into the history of Ybor. It is a nice place to go. Will not take too long to do either.

Educational historic museum, but small. Makes a nice stop as part of a larger trip.
The venue is beautiful and was perfect for our wedding. The staff was very helpful with any questions and assistance needed. They are very friendly. HOWEVER, my big complaint is that the contract states they will refund the $1,000 deposit within 4 weeks, by which they do not abide. After 7 weeks I contacted them because I still hadn't received my deposit and I didn't hear back until 8 weeks. They informed it would be sent that week. 2 weeks later I still hadn't received it, so I called again and I was given excuses and told they would mail it that week. Now it's been over 3 months and I still haven't received the check. I called again today and they said it was sent yesterday (how convenient). I am not one to complain, but this to me is absolutely ridiculous, and I've been more than nice and patient. If I were to have been late on a payment I'm sure I would have been charged late fees or given problems. However, it's no big deal to them to pay you a few months later than they agreed to. In my opinion, this is unacceptable and I'm very disappointed in how this situation was handled.
