(4.6/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
The new, eight-acre Curtis Hixon park sits on the banks of the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa. Amenities include the Great Lawn with flexible perimeter seating to accommodate a wide range of programming and performances, a dog run, trails, a kiosk with restrooms and a Pavilion building with restrooms.

There are two interactive fountains, or spraygrounds: the Louver Fountain on the east side of the park along Ashley Drive and the Mist Fountain on the west side the park along the Riverwalk. The park's new playground features an interactive NEOS 360 Ring, which combines video games with aerobic exercise and is the first of its kind in the southeast United States.

A section of the Riverwalk runs through the park connecting the David Straz Performing Arts Center to the Glazer Children's Museum and the Tampa Museum of Art.

  • Especially on weekends, something goes here often: festivals, events, etc. The location is very central and nice to stay, right on the river and in front of the museums.

  • What a great park for a rest along the Hillsborough River walk and near the Tampa Museum of Art, Germany Library, Glazer Children,s Museum and Straz Center.  more »
  • Love coming here for events or just for a stroll. Always well maintained and in the heart of Downtown Tampa. Sit on a bench or bring a blanket for a picnic.  more »

  • Beautiful park, great location, great view and great for special events with one exception. Have you ever stood on the sun? Well stop guessing how it would feel and come to an event out here. If your skin doesn't melt off it must not be day time.
  • Curtis Hixon is a spectacular place to spend an afternoon. There's space for children to play, to just take a walk, to appreciate the beauty of our Hillsborough River, and of course space to sit and chat with old friends. There is always some new event being held here evenings and weekends, within walking distance of downtown apartments and condos. The park is flanked by both the Tampa Museum of Art, and the Glazer Children's Museum, and both of those are worth a visit as well! Downtown is so much better for the presence of this park, and it will surely only get better as more development goes under way in 2017 and coming years.
  • This park is a jewel in the otherwise crowded and commercial downtown area. It's great for family photos, relaxing, or a walk along Tampa's Riverwalk. The adjoining Kiley Garden also houses a nice open space and the lessor-known amphitheatre.
  • Nice place. Great place If you're white.. My net worth is higher than most. But they act as if I came to steal it all.. Hate that feeling...
  • Nice park and host to many outdoor events. Near the art museum and library. Very nice place to relax in the sun. Do playground. Get coffee at the museum and sit outside on the veranda with great views.
