  • Someone we met on our travels told us we had to got to the overlook general store. I am so glad we found this little place. The view of the gorge is amazing especially from the second story deck. The ...  more »
  • If you are passing through the area, it is worth the side trip to view this large valley. It is less than a mile from the main road. There is a old dated gift shop to browse through and porch areas to...  more »
  • We stopped by here on the way to the state park. We loved the view of the gorge from here (we looked by the road and then off the back porch.) Lots of cute knick knacks for sale here, as well as many ...  more »

  • This place is a remnant of early US tourism. We stopped here 2 times every year in the 70s when traveling between Florida and Dillard GA. At that time the road was just 2 lane us 441 and all the traffic went directly past the overlook. I think they still sell the same items today. I still have one knife that I bought there back in the 70s.
  • Love the store, the view, how its laid out, and what amzing customer service, i did not feel like a customer but more like a friend. Definitely stop by and check out this awsome store
  • You are paying for the view mostly. The view is fantastic; the food is salty and decent. They DO accept credit cards and debit cards.
  • We were disappointed with Overlook BBQ. The staff was cordial and service efficient, but the quality of food was poor. The pulled pork was heavily smoked resulting in an unappetizing bitter taste. The pit master may want to try some cured hickory for a better flavor. The portions were small and all items overpriced; we paid almost $17 for 2 very small sandwiches (the size of an average hamburger bun), 2 small bags of chips, and 2 weak sweet teas. Save your money....head on down the road to find a better meal. The view was great, but the food was not.
  • If you are passing this place, as I was, it is definitely worth the quick detour to see the view!
