Goodwood Museum & Gardens, Tallahassee

Categories: History Museums, Museums
Inspirock Rating:
4.5/5 based on 90 reviews on the web
The estate began in the 1830s as a cotton and corn plantation that ultimately encompassed 2,400 acres. The plantation’s agricultural emphasis declined after the Civil War and by the 1880s the remaining 160 acres, home, and garden served as an elegant private residence. In 1911, the house and garden underwent major renovation. The estate’s style and elegance was further enhanced by Goodwood’s owners in the late 1920s. Goodwood is currently restored to this turn-of-the-century Country Estate era, ever mindful of its rich 19th-century history.

  • This was an interesting place but needs a shot in the arm to take care of the grounds. We found the not well kept. The was nice but would skip it is I had limited time
  • We were so impressed with the docents who looked after us on our tour of the historic House. The House and contents were a delight and one of the best intact Houses we have visited. A great pity that ...  read more »
  • I've attended several fundraisers and awards dinners here, and I've always been impressed with the ground and the staff. It's a great place for events.
  • Love this place, as a wedding photographer you want a place with variety and good lighting. There is plenty of space here for a wide range of photos. Plus their customer service is amazing and the food at Fanny's is delicious. The museum is filled with an exhausted amount of details/information. I am from Montreal, Canada and I look forward to visit again and to do more weddings at this venue.
  • We read about this house in a guide book, which is on a tourist drive through old cotton country, which the curator was interested in as he didn't know it was in there. The staff are really helpful and on the guided tour he described many items within the household and grounds. If you are in the Tallahassee area, take a half day out and take a look around the house, out buildings and gardens. Immerse yourself in the middle of the 19th Century. you will not be disappointed!
  • The carriage house is a great place for a company party, a wedding, etc.
  • The service was amazing there was no wait.
