Cave Water Body
Lost Sea Adventure explores the Craighead Caverns, home to America's largest underground lake. Take the 1.2 km (0.75 mi) guided walk to see the impressive formations. Your guide will tell you about the caverns' varied history, including a period as a Cherokee meeting place, as well as a gunpowder-materials mining site for Confederate soldiers. The tour ends with a glass-bottom boat trip on the massive Lost Sea. Back above ground, explore Old Sweetwater Village, an artificial town full of old-Tennessee charm with food and souvenir stores. If you'd like to see more, take a self-guided walk along the 0.5-km (0.33 mi) forested nature trail. • I've been wanting to see this site for years and decided to take an overnight and go. VERY interesting, good tour- well worth the trip for any age! We are both in our 60's and enjoyed the experience.  more »
