Vaillancourt Folk Art, based in Sutton, Massachusetts, is considered one of the last "Made in America" Christmas studios. Founded in 1984, Vaillancourt chalkware is cast from vintage moulds and hand-painted with the same attention to quality and detail given to the fine arts. Available nationally—from department stores and museum gift shops to small mom and pop shoppes and catalogs—the experience of the studio, gallery, and museum is second to none. Vaillancourt Folk Art operates with one goal in mind: starting your family tradition by creating that special gift that will be handed down throughout generations.

  • Really interesting place and the tour with interaction with the artists was great. The end products are not inexpensive but they are hand crafted.  more »

  • Love this place. A bit pricey but well worth it. Quality products.
  • Very unique place to visit, always feels like Christmas!
  • I have not had the pleasure of visiting a European Christmas market (yet), but I imagine Vaillancourt Folk Art is the closest thing to being in those Christmas markets. I bought my first chalkware piece at the Old Sturbridge Village but this time I decided to visit the Sutton store and studio. The store consists of many objects for sale that are made right on site as well as some German made items. This is not a place to find cheaply made Christmas decorations but high quality collectibles. Being a lover of Christmas, I bought a magnificent piece that now adorns my entertainment center joining the Twelve Days of Christmas glass ornaments that my wife received last year. I hope these items are passed along in my family for many generations. Vaillancourt Folk Art is the place to go to truly appreciate and feel the spirit of Christmas. Stop by and take a look at the collectibles, items for sale and tour the production shop. Buy a bottle of wine, a small ornament or elaborate chalkware. We are truly fortunate to have this home grown local store right here in central Massachusetts.
  • I never have been to a folk art museum before I don't know much about folk art, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to check it out so I did, and I am so glad I did. It felt like I was celebrating Christmas in a magical wonderland. Everywhere I looked there was Christmas decorations, and some of the most chalk art I have ever seen. Even though my back was in a ton of pain it was well worth the pain. If you have not seen it yet I recommend it because you will not be disappointed. I would give it ten stars.
  • Absolutely a treasure.. loved seeing G.Charles Dickens one man telling of "A Christmas Carol"- Totally awesome performance in an intimate setting. What a blessing to have this here.
