One of the hidden crown jewels of rural NJ (along with the Lakota Wolf Preserve). Old fashioned, yes, but that's a huge part of its charms. It isn't Disney. It isn't Multimedia it's real life. The ani... more »

Very cool place but could use some updating. Tons of animals to see from ducks and chickens to lions and tigers. All of the animals seem to be happy and well taken care of. The big cats seemed cramped but looked healthy. Lots of animals can be fed so the kids can get very close. The museum aspect is something to see as they have soooo many cool tools and cars from so many different eras. We spent most of our time in the museums. There are locations with benches so you can bring your own lunch but there is a small cafeteria style restaurant inside the main building. Prices are reasonable and great for families to spend a day out.

I am a Sussex county resident and took my children there for the day for the first time. I can honestly tell you I was in absolute shock of how the animals are treated. They are in small enclosures that are not upkept. All of the animals are apparently surviving on loaves of bread that are thrown all over the enclosures. There was a ram whose horn was grown so long it wrapped around and was penetrating its skull through its skin. If I can upload a picture I will attach. I would have requested my money back if I wasn't prayed that at least a third of it was going to help these poor animals. If you are truly an animal lover, please do not go here. I do not know how this place is not shut down.

Had such a great time here with my family! The staff went above and beyond and really makes you feel like part of the family! Love this place and can't wait to come back! My daughter enjoyed all the animals. I highly recommend this to families with all age children😁

I came here over the weekend with my family and I was really shocked about this place. In the middle of New Jersey you can find lions and tigers and bears!? There are a wide variety of animals: Syrian bears, foxes, emus, angry llamas, bison, various sheep, goats & deer, a jaguar, lions, tigers, servals, bob cats, baboons, lemurs, snakes. Most of them seem to have adequate space. I kind of feel like the jaguar is not comfortable, she was growling and moaning the whole time, maybe she was in heat? I would give this place 3.5 stars if that were possible because I think a lot of the larger carnivores need a lot more stimulation or toys. There is a massively obese bear that just rocks in a corner. The lions are also obese. Most of the habitats are decently sized with shade and sun. The bears have it best with hidey-holes and trees and vultures to chase around. The car collection is simply astonishing. It was a perfect place for us! Husband likes the cars, I like the animals, plus - the pizza place has GLUTEN FREE PIZZA! Win.

I thought the place was lovely the children had a great time feeding the animals. The staff was abosoultly pleasant. It was a very hot n humid day, so most of the animals were keeping cool and of course not moving much
