  • We stayed in the cottages at this park on two diff occasions, they are out in the fields and give you plenty of space to ride bikes and have fun as a family. They are really set up nice and have everything you need to cook and enjoy your meals together. It is hard to call these park cabins they are so nice. The only comment negative was when we stayed in the Brown House, the 3 bedroom there is a claw foot tub/shower. It is not easy to get in and out of, so be warned. We didn't mind it, but it could be difficult. The beach is so much fun to explore and we even kayaked the creek. You can easily put your canoe or kayak in near the little bridge. The sunsets from the shore area were magnificent. We can't wait to go back!
  • Farm museum is well maintained and interesting. There are a few farm animals (donkeys, goats, pigs). There's a nice beach along the river that has fossil shells. Campsites are large, shaded, and private. The group campsite has four large tent pads, each with its own table and grill; there's also a central fire ring. Park staff is really friendly and there are some great programs available, including fossil walks, canoeing, and farm animal feeding.
  • We recently visited for the first time family camping with the Cub Scouts. I will start with the Camp Grounds. They are very well maintained and really nice. The Camp Host were very friendly and road around checking on everything to make sure everyone was doing good. Great people. Fire wood and Ice are on site. Bath Houses were clean and since it got kinda chilly at night (very low 40's) and heated. Friday night we were treated to a campfire program and Saturday Night was a movie. The Plantation/Park. It too was great. The Ranger staff were very friendly and offered several programs through out the day. The trails we hiked were well maintained and clean. We loved the historic sites. The tours we were able to attend were good, the artifacts on display were amazing. My only complaint is we camped on an off weekend and had to leave before the mansion tours and being in November the gift shops etc were closed for the season. No fault of the Parks. We plan on returning in season to do more things we were able to do this visit. Great Place and Great Times.
  • Lovely quiet farm along the James. Convenient to Jamestown and Williamsburg via the Surry ferry. Lots of activities when we visited, send like they do a good job of having events often. Look for shells and even fossils in various spots around park.
  • Camped here for three days in April 2016, so hardly anyone there. Extremely peaceful place. Walked along the James River behind the visitor center, found TONS of fossils. Good place to ride a bike too, as the paths are paved.
