  • We took a day trip to this festival yesterday. The weather was perfect for the ride on the Jamestown ferry. Once on the other side, there was only one sign for Chippokes State Park, after that you're ...  read more »

  • Camped here for three days in April 2016, so hardly anyone there. Extremely peaceful place. Walked along the James River behind the visitor center, found TONS of fossils. Good place to ride a bike too, as the paths are paved.
  • One of the nicest parks around. Everything you would expect offering rustic feel with modern convinces to make camping truly enjoyable. Lots to do in the park, old mansion and agricultural/ logging museum are fun to visit, love the views and the James River. Great camp host Don and Jean were a wealth of information on local attractions and restaurants as well as ferry information to Willamsburg. There are 2 campgrounds, we stayed at the unpaved campground. Our 7 day visit was in mid September, the weather was fantastic, our campsite was level and we were really suprised each site had water hook up. The other Campground is just beautiful, all the sites are paved the natural landscape is picturesque. The bathhouse is large, spotless and has a laundromat too. If you are heading to Virginia, Chippokes State Park is well worth the visit even for a nice day trip, or picnic lunch. Thumbs up!
  • This place is absolutely beautiful and never over crowded when I have visited.
  • Our family has camped here for the past two years and had a blast. The staff is great and usually have a good amount of events planned to keep kids busy and interested. Shark teeth hunting is our favorite and we usually make the quick trip to Williamsburg to go to either Water Country or Busch Gardens.
  • Explore the old plantation buildings. Complete the Ingress mission. Go swimming in the Olympic sized pool. Visit the beach on the James River. Plenty to do at this Virginia state park.
