Sun Valley Resort, Sun Valley

(4.3/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
Sun Valley Resort is North America's original mountain destination, since 1936. It has the distinction of being the continent's first ski resort - bringing the magic of the European mountain experience to America.

Sun Valley was instantly a phenomenon without peer and has since grown to be both the cultural and athletic hub of the Northern Rockies. From the crisp air atop Bald Mountain to the quaint shops and restaurants below, there is no other place quite like Sun Valley, regardless of the season.

  • Wicked ski mountain! Sun Valley has a reputation as a great ski mountain and it didn't disappoint. It's a massive mountain with very long and steep runs. You can find any type of terrain you're lookin...  more »
  • Beautiful, fashionable ski resort! Were not in season, skiers had already left, but the beauty remains at any time of the year. Mountain village is very cozy. There's a mass of shops and restaurants. Beautiful mountains, rich vacationers. This place is connected with the name of Hemingway. He lived there the past few years, and there ended his life. Buried there as well.

  • My wife's family has come here regularly since the 70's. I hadn't heard of Sun Valley before meeting my wife, but we've been about 6 times in the last decade. Overall, the resort is top notch. I've stayed in the condos, the lodge, the cottages and this time is my 2nd time in the inn. We always enjoy finding everything that's changed since our last time up. The Inn, like the cottages and lodge, is very nice and has that "classic" feel of luxury. The rooms are very comfortable but show their age a bit with squeaky floors and ancient light switches. Oh, and there just aren't enough power outlets for our tech-addicted lives. The service is always great and the grounds are my exact definition of perfect. We love coming here and I'm sure we'll be back again and again. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because of single ply toilet paper in our bathrooms - there's just no excuse for that.
  • Phenomenal service and professional staff. We had a great conference
  • The staff at the Sun Valley Inn was professional and helpful. The entire inn itself is very nice, with carpeted floors, displays with the history of Sun Valley, and wood counters. This would be a nice, albeit expensive place to stay.
  • Located in Hailey, Idaho. About 20-30 minute drive from Sun Valley. The beds were good, the service was awesome, it is a great place to stay.
  • It was the shoulder season, so it wasn't too busy. The pools are great. Warm and made for lazing. The employees were all nice and the facilities were nice and clean.
