  • I have golfed at Wescott twice now and both times were fun. Very playable from the whites with longer tees for long ball hitters. Friendly pro shop and beautiful restaurant/bar. "And" this is a public...  read more »

  • Have always enjoyed Wescott and the 3 nine hole courses, but he conditions are not good now. The fairways are way too wet for cart so many holes are a mess. The greens are shot, but they will need som...  read more »
  • Wescott Plantation is a Great course! Fun to play, well maintained and the price is reasonable. I have started playing golf in the last couple of years. I am in my waning years in the workforce and on the downhill slope to retirement and wanted a hobby/sport to play since I will have more free time on my hands. Since playing the game, I have played at a few course, some top end resorts courses at Hilton Head and Kiawah Island and local public course in Charleston. I have read the reviews on Wescott Plantation golf course and find the negative comments hard to believe. This can’t but true. I play at least twice a week at Wescott and always had and enjoyable time. I have gone at different times, in the morning on weekends and after 2pm on week days. Staff has always been considerate and pilot. The course is well maintained and speed of play is reasonable, no different from any other course I have played. The Wescott Plantation club house is excellent. I take advantage of the specials, the last couple of months they have had a Prime Rib dinner special, very good! As for the all you can eat Chicken Wings. I make a day of it. Play a round of golf, clean up and have a nice dinner at the club house. The staff are very professional and a welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend Wescott Plantation golf, you will not be disappointed!
  • **Update** I was called by the General Manager after this review where he explained the issue and agreed with my assessments/complaints. I was offered a free round for my experience and decided to use that this last weekend. I tried to give the course time to remedy the situation and avoid the period when aeration normally happens. I was pleasantly surprised! The greens were back to being very good. One green of the 18 did was still recovering from the fungus, but the rest were great. The fairways were in good condition as well. The sand traps had quite a lot of standing water in them, so that was still a bit disappointing, but I luckily didn't make my way into one. I'm glad that they were able to get the greens back in shape as this is my preferred home course and their customer service was also very much appreciated. **End Update** The course itself was in terrible condition. The sand traps were inconsistent though most felt like hitting off of hardpan. The rough is completely unmanaged, so anything wayward is surely gone. The greens though, were abysmal. Every single one of them was at least 30%-50% dead. It was worse than trying to play on an aerated green. I'm not sure if they just had a bad disease outbreak this year, but it was really awful. I won't be going back this season for sure. There are plenty of other nicer courses in the immediate vicinity that are equally priced.
  • What a fantastic public course! The greens were well kept, not a challenging course but fun to play is your ever in the subs of Charleston
  • Beautiful course and affordable. However it's so tight in and around the cookie cutter centex homes that the enjoyment is quickly diminished. Lastly, the pace of play was the worse I have ever experienced. The flat bill crowd had their on cart for all 6 of early and get out of there...or go spend a little more next door.
  • Played a round March 5 2016. It will be the last one. I have been playing this course since 2002 when I moved to the area. Bought a house on the course several yeas ago, so this is hard to say. Wescott is the most poorly managed golf course I have ever been to. 5 to 5.5hr rounds. People hitting into you while you wait to hit your shot. BLUE JEANS, I'm sorry that is like a cardinal rule of golf, collared shirts and no blue jeans are rules of golf. And no I'm not 80 years old I'm only 34 and I do belive in those rules. There are also courtesy rules. If there is a group on your ass waiting on every shot for ten min then u need to let them play through especially In the afternoon when you are fighting a clock and darkness. That's what happened to myself and my 2 other friends that both own homes in wescott and sware they won't come back. We called the pro shop and it felt like we were being interrogated by police. They obviously didn't want to talk about it. Finally they say they will send someone out. Well I'm not sure what good it does when they just ride by in the cart and don't stop to say anything to anyone. Very poor service. They could have told the group in front of us to let us play through or pick up the pace a bit. We were a 3some waiting on a 4some for 10 minutes on EVERY SHOT. But that's what u get at wescott. You will never see a ranger on the course, all they do is take your receipt, wright down your cart number, tell u which 2 nines to play and say have a nice day. Then you get to the tee box and there are 4 groups waiting to tee off. Zero control of t times. U can make a 2 o'clock t time, show up at one and just go. There is no one stopping you. Also during our round there was trash all over the course, trash lying next to the trash cans where the trash cans were empty, absolutely disgusting, that's the type of person that wescott encourages to come play the course. If there was a ranger patrolling the course while play is going on mabye he could pick the trash up so people don't think this or mabye he could catch the people doing it. But that would be way to easy. I have played here when there are people walking, riding bikes, riding skateboards, scooters, playing games, having paintball wars, I've seen it all and management has FAILED MISERABLY to fix any of it. Again, this is all hard to say because I do like this area and I'm not moving anyware anytime soon. I just wish they would get this place under control. But I guess if they are okay making money being the dirt track of North Charleston then they have accomplished their goal. There are many other good courses in the area, I suggest you don't waste your money at wescott. It's so bad I would spend 20 dollars more not to play here.
