#2 of 6 in Wineries in Door County
In 1974, Door Peninsula Winery started making wine in the basement of the little 1868 Carlsville Schoolhouse with exceptional locally grown Door County fruits. Since then, the wine portfolio has expanded. 2010 marked another large expansion in the production facility allowing Door Peninsula Winery to be one of the largest producers of wine in Wisconsin.

  • They had a very nice tour. We didn't do the wine tasting, but did sample the sauces and oils and salsas and other yummy items. They have a large store with lots to choose from.  more »
  • If you are looking for the vineyards and high-end 1 on 1 service, check those expectations in the parking lot behind the fleet of limos and tourist buses. If you are looking for a few wines to pick up...  more »
  • Have visited, sampled and purchased many of their wines. Also joined their wine club, which is a lot of fun. Best wines sound. Huge selections, great prices.  more »

  • I love stopping here, they have GREAT wines! My favorite is the chocolate covered cherry wine, but they have so many great options. They have a wonderful tasting area where you can sample the wines (and even their spirits) before you buy them. We always make it a point to stop here whenever we head up to Door County. Worth the stop!
  • The wine is cheap and for good reason...it's not quality. It's all that watered down sparking wine garbage, theres very little actual wine. The real stuff isn't good either. I'm no connesuer of fine wines but my significant other has had a lot of experience with wineries and she was definitely not impressed. She had also noticed small details like the staff leaning on the counter while pouring samples and not describing what they were pouring. It felt like they just wanted to get rid of us and they had only just opened up for the day. On top of the crappy wine, everything is ridiculously expensive. Unless your looking to kill time or just want a cheap sparking wine...don't waste your time. Just go to any other Winery outside off door County.
  • Free wine sampling! Up to 7. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. Ended up leaving with multiple bottles of their delicious wine!
  • I visited several wineries while in Door County with Door Peninsula being the first. It was very hard to visit some of the other wineries after being here first. There is so much to discover here from over 50 delicious wines a distillary with flavored moonshine, Bourbons, other liquor, cheeses, dips gifts and an amazingly spacious building. I love sweet fruit flavored wines and these were fantastic. I started out with a bad experience in the distillery sampling bar where I absolutely could not get a bartender to take my money even after 20 minutes standing there with a completed sample list and cash sitting on the clip board. I understand first come first serve but if poeple were so indecisive as these individuals were, there was no reason that they couldn't served me and returned to them when ready. I was so upset that I almost headed to my car before seeing the rest of the building. The process of serving people absolutely needs to be changed! I was so disgusted that I headed toward the front door and at the last second, decided to see what else was being offered. I enjoyed the company of a super hard working bartender, which I dont remember her name but she was definitely a multitasker unlike the two ladies in the distillery area. She handled at least a dozen peoples orders and was able to keep track in her head how many each person had taste tested and what kind. Between the bartenders actions and the amazing array of other things to discover, my image of Door Peninsula was restored before I left the building. I really wanted to purchase something from the distillery but never went back.
  • This is essentially the gateway to Door County for me. A true 'must stop' for tastings of everything from oil, spirits, wine, beer. I love this place.
