  • Wanting to see some of the storied bridges of Vermont, we took a quick drive to Emily's bridge. The "plot" of the bridge is the usual "beautiful young girl perishes" in the bridge by some horrible mea...  more »
  • We collect covered bridges. Sounds odd. But it helps set the itinerary in exploring New England. The Gold Brook bridge was interesting and another notch in our covered bridge collection.  more »

  • Aka: Emily's Bridge! This bridge has historically been one of the most haunted in the area. Google it and read Emily's story! We've had very interesting events occur HERE! It's one of my favorite things to do with visitors! If you're in the Stowe area, check it out, but PLEASE be mindful of the people who live nearby, and don't block the one-car bridge! A couple of cars can park very close. Try to use electronic devices if you're walking across and male!😂 Emily is buried in the Stowe town cemetery. Ask locals to point out the gravestone!❤
  • Charming and haunted bridge nestled in the mountains of VT.
  • Neat history and pleasant stop over drive.
  • Cool spot with a lot of history
  • Love the old covered bridges.

Where to stay in Stowe

Where you should stay in Stowe depends on why you’re visiting. If you plan to ski or snowboard and want to minimize your travel time between the gondola and your bed, opt for a place at the base of the resort or as close to it on Route 108 as possible. Look for ski-and-stay packages to save money on the combined cost of lift tickets and accommodations. If skiing or snowboarding is just part of the plan or not on the itinerary at all, stay right in town. You'll find a range of accommodation types, including charming inns and bed and breakfasts, and hotels and motels that serve both visitors on group trips and independent travelers.
