The Stockton Market is a real local treasure, with a collection of the finest local food purveyors packed into a relatively small space. We're extremely lucky to have the market so close to home. Take, for example, Curiosity Doughnuts - home to some of the most innovative and delicious doughnuts you'll find anywhere. And Sweet Melissa's Patisserie - transplanted from New York, she brings us pastries that look like they're straight from Paris. Blue Moon Acres, which sources most of the best restaurants in the area, brings their fresh produce to the Market. Looking for exotic mushrooms or imported French Feta? Stephanie, aka the mushroom lady, always steers me right. And don't get me started about the chocolate at Sciascia Confections! And there's so much more. You can get BBQ, fresh fish, bread, coffee, smoothies, thin-crust gourmet pizza and grass-fed meats. Finally, remember to stop by on Friday for an early dinner. Metropolitan Seafood offers oysters for $1 (go early!) as well as prepared foods like fish tacos and lobster rolls that are better than you'll get in most restaurants. The only downside to the market is that it's not really a "farmer's market" - this is an upscale place catering to those looking for a destination. You wouldn't come here to do your shopping. Instead, you visit the market for a gourmet culinary experience!
High end farmer's market. Super fresh produce, meat and fish. Prepared goods - from pizza, BBQ, and tamales to baked goods, crepes and coffee. Not to mention the heirloom donuts made on premises. Vendors are a pleasure to talk to and will often provide samples - from chocolate macaroon bites to oysters.
Many great selections of fresh produce, baked goods, sandwiches, and more. There are countless delicious choices at the many stands here.
A wide array of vendors. You can get anything from baked goods to smoothies, fresh meats pasta, soup, etc. We will definitely return.
The Metropolitan Seafood folks have an oyster happy hour every Friday from 3-5. PM. They usually have about half a dozen kinds ranging in prices range from $1.50-$3.00. They shuck them in front of you and serve them on a bed of ice. This was where we were introduced to the famed Glidden Point oysters from Damariscotta, Maine. We like to grab a split of bubbly from next door at Stockton Fine Wine and Sprits and hang at the communal table.
