Norman Rockwell Museum, Stockbridge

4.7
Home to the largest collection of this artist's paintings, the whitewashed house of the Norman Rockwell Museum sits among the hills. In addition to nearly 600 paintings, you'll find an archive with over 100,000 items and artifacts, plus fan mail. The museum building itself, situated among green countryside and rolling hills, is suggestive of the ideals that Rockwell espoused in his work. • The Norman Rockwell Museum is a MUST SEE if you are in the Berkshires! I have always been a fan of Mr. Rockwell's work, but to see it up close is breathtaking. I highly recommend the audio tour as it provides you with an in-depth analysis of that specific work . . . It definitely allows you to appreciate it more. Also, there are other artists in various parts of the museum. The gift shop is simply adorable and allows you to take your favorite piece of Mr. Rockwell's art home with you. The store also has a myriad of items relevant to the town / area and even items for budding artists. The views outside of the museum are just as amazing. I really enjoyed the visit and can understand where Mr. Rockwell gets his muse from with such a beautifully situated studio.
  • This is a fantastic place to go with your spouse or even kids! They always have the classics plus a rotating display of new artists. We love coming here and seeing the new art. If you plan to come only twice a year a membership is still worth it since one ticket is half the cost of one time admission
  • Great visit today! Truly a moving experience wonderfully enhanced by attentive staff. Curator Tom gave us tons of personal attention and your cheery docent with the flowing, grey hair made every effort to find answers to all of our questions. We will be sure to recommend your museum to friends and look forward to a return visit.
  • We had such a nice visit! The scenery can't be more beautiful. Complete with friendly staff, wonderfully amusing guest displays, and comfortable galleries this museum is a must see of an American icon.
  • Excellent exhibitions. The Rockwells circulate so there's always something fresh to appreciate. And the specially featured exhibition is always of a fascinating illustrator. Terrific, knowledgeable docents. Great gift shop.
