Yampa River Botanic Park, Steamboat Springs

(4.7/5 based on 400+ reviews on the web)
Relax in a tranquil, well-tended botanical garden abundant with colorful plants and flowers at Yampa River Botanic Park. You can visit the garden between dawn and dusk, from spring until the first heavy snow. The garden sits at an altitude of 2,100 m (6,800 ft) near the Yampa River, with the two-month long frost-free growing season arguably the best time to visit, as summer is dry and sunny, and winters get extremely cold with heavy snows. Sit and enjoy the atmosphere at the pond in the center of the park, then take a closer look at each of the clearly labeled plants. • Romantic and educational, a very eclectic and beautifully maintained garden with sculpture and ponds. Great place to take a family photo or learn about native plants.  more »

  • A gem by the river!! Worth the time finding it! The easiest way is to bike the yampa core river trail to it. The ppl are passionate about the huge variety of plants the have.
  • One of Steamboat's most beautiful and relaxing spots... and FREE. The park sits right next to the Yampa River and Yampa Core Trail. The flowers, trees, and other plants are all local varieties maintained by local gardeners. There is a nice gazebo near the pond and a walking trail throughout. My favorite is watching the cedar waxwings gorging themselves on the flowers of the crab apple trees in early summer.
  • A very pleasant botanic park. It's not huge but it is very well done with different section. You have to park on the other side of a large soccer field and then walk a fair distance to get to the entrance to the park. You can also enter from the river walk / trail. The grounds are beautiful and the people who maintain it work very hard. We really enjoyed our walk through the grounds.
  • Wow! The botanic garden is extravagant! Such radiant colors and smells, had me leaving very uplifted. It totally changed my mood and energy. I loved my visit and plan on coming back. Thank you for your wonderful gift of nature! Well put together.
  • Great and free. After our dissapointment with denver botanical garden, this was awesome. Very well done.
