Wow, it’s been 16 years since I came here and there have been some very nice improvements such as a beautiful new restroom facility, but all the charm is still here. What an idyllic setting..... natur...  more »

We truly enjoyed sitting in the hot springs even though it was raining. The massages were done in little "huts" on the side of the hot springs. It had an fire going on the fireplace. It was a feeling ...  more »

A bit off the beaten path. I wasn't sure if we were headed the right way, but we were. The Springs felt great. Super relaxing. They kick anyone under 18 out at dusk and it turns clothing optional, we ...  more »

The Hot Springs are all natural and vary in temperature per pool. There is no chlorine at all, which makes it so that the algae can grow. There's a ton of green slippery stuff all over the place because of this. The hotter pools have less of it, but otherwise it's all over. Bring water shoes, sunscreen, towels, water bottles and a snack. You will need all of them. The parking lot is pretty small, so get there early if you want a spot. It's all dirt to the lot and in the lot, so make sure your car can handle it. I wouldn't suggest anyone with a low vehicle try it as it was pretty rutted and bouncy when we went. They have a toilet at the top of the entrance area and a changing area as you go down to the pools. The changing area can get pretty hot inside and only has a few changing sections. They get backed up pretty quickly. The hottest pool, to the left of the bridge as you come in, is marvelous but very hot. They get progressively colder and end in the creek at the bottom. The creek is very rocky and the middle pools are really slippery, so water shoes are a good choice to have. If you want to hang out in hot water for short bursts of time with no chlorination, this is the place to go.....if your vehicle can make it there. They are also reasonably priced and offer private pools for additional rental and massages.

Our first few trips in the afternoon were wonderful. Really enjoyed the entire experience. However, in the evening the staff members are just plain rude. I was not aware that flasks were prohibited and instead of allowing me to put it back in the car they confiscated it. I asked for it back upon leaving and they said they keep it. I really think this is extreme and over the top. We will not be returning anytime soon because of the staff members.

    1. We rented the caboose and either there was a natural gas leak or a carbon monoxide leak. I woke up in the middle of the night ready to vomit but once the window cracked open I could go back to sleep. 2. The sink in the bathroom wouldn't drain, disgusting. 3. We were woken up by the sound of construction equipment early in the morning. They denied that there was anything wrong and lied about using a sniffer. I reported them to the local natural gas company. It's their luck I'm not an attorney; I'm sure that's why they gave us our money back. I'd bet money they never handled it.... The worst of the worst though was the power tripping manager, the staff that told lies to our faces, and the owner who is threatening/belligerent. I haven't ever interacted with anybody in the hospitality industry who was as intrusive, AGGRESSIVE, and despicable. Their conversation with us was downright verbally abusive. We were told to never come back. I cross country skied into these Hot Springs in 1981. It was pristine. It used to hold a very special place in my very well-traveled history. It is now nothing but a disappointment and wretched memory.

We have been going to Strawberry for over a decade. Live in Colorado and have made it a point to make the drive to soak in Colorado's premier outdoor (natural) hot springs at least a couple times year. We've been to at least a 1/2 dozen other hot springs in state and none of them compare! All year long and up until 10pm. The outdoor setting is breath taking, several separate temperature baths and a creek if you are brave enough to venture in!

No trip to Steamboat is complete without a dip in Strawberry Park Hot Springs. Enjoy a soak in this idyllic setting. It's absolutely worth the short drive, and there's a shuttle service to and from town if you don't have a car. Pack some snacks and water and plan to stay a while.

Where to stay in Steamboat Springs

As with most of the country's ski resorts, room rates increase with proximity to the slopes in Steamboat Springs. Expect to pay the highest rates during the winter holidays, as well as at the peak of the summer season. One of the most economical ways to stay near the slopes is to choose one of the area's inns. These offer every comfort of home at a fraction of the price charged by the big resorts and chain hotels.
