Where to stay in Steamboat Springs

As with most of the country's ski resorts, room rates increase with proximity to the slopes in Steamboat Springs. Expect to pay the highest rates during the winter holidays, as well as at the peak of the summer season. One of the most economical ways to stay near the slopes is to choose one of the area's inns. These offer every comfort of home at a fraction of the price charged by the big resorts and chain hotels.

  • The bumper cars were such fun! Make a reservation ahead of time even if it's slow. We called ahead to reserve spots and they said not to worry about reservations because they were slow. We showed up and there wasn't availability until an hour later. Fun, unique experience, and friendly staff.
  • It was fun, though be sure you check the online calendar for the times they are OPEN TO PUBLIC. We rented all our gear only to have the place shut down around us less than an hour later because they had to prep for high school hockey practice. The ice skating and bumper cars share the ice space, divided by cones, traditional hockey arena size. They have the little walkers for the kids to use when skating. A little snack bar up front.
  • I love this place. Olympic sized ice, nice staff. Steamboat is lucky to have it.
  • Some friends and I went to kill a few hours at the ice rink. It was freshly zambonied and empty, perfect for the scaredy cats in the group. The rental fleet isn't spectacular and the coffee and hot beverage bar was depleted but I still had a great time and highly recommend the activity. Bumper cars on ice will be my next foray at the Howelson Ice Arena!
  • Came for the ice bumper cars. It was great fun!
