  • Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Interesting and informative exhibitions. The free Tai Chi class was an unexpected awesome surprise.
  • Small museum, exhibits were of poor quality, not very informative, and in the case of their Staten Island Ferry exhibit, out of date. There are only about 4 spaces for exhibits. When I visited the top floor was filled with contemporary modern art portraits that had nothing to do with Staten Island or even New York. The basement was a very basic over view of the native american times of Staten Island, without having much detail. The basement didn't appear to have been updated for quite some time as well. I did enjoy some of the rock and insect collections, however they seemed like a product of 1930s museum culture. I wouldn't recommend this museum, but it is close to the ferry, and doesn't take much time to explore.
  • Place the kids love!!! However if they put money in to make it better it would offer so so much more!!! Everyone complain that it nedds updating!!!
  • Small museum with some interesting exhibits on the natural, cultural, and maritime history of the island. There is a particular interest in the history of the Staten Island Ferry, probably the most recognized attraction attached to the island. An hour is enough to see all exhibits.
  • We took the Staten Island Ferry, to see the Statue of Liberty, and then stopped by this museum to give us something to do before heading back. My kids love museums. They enjoyed it, and can't beat the price (free on Tuesday from 12-2). Staff was friendly and a few interesting exhibits. Small but worth the short walk from the ferry.
