Where to stay in St. Helena

Because St. Helena is nestled in upscale wine country, most people who visit have no intention of roughing it. As such, the city sports a number of luxurious hotels. Several boast restaurants, hot tubs, and swimming pools; however, keep in mind that those with extensive grounds tend to be farther away from the main street. Budget-conscious travelers can find some more basic motels (looking farther out of town is a good way to save a few dollars). However, those staying on the outskirts should be aware that parking--particularly during high season--can be challenging in the city.

  • We had a great sit down tasting with a personable host. The tasting was inside and so it didn't take advantage of the hilltop view location of Trinchero. Excellent wines that are exclusive to this brand.
  • Trinchero Winery/Estate deserves more attention over many other highly hyped winery in the area such as V Sattui, Mumm, Newton, Sterling, Somerston...etc. Fantastic view, unique modern arts and tasting room, very exquisite relaxing serenity feel. Beautiful garden. Wonderful attentive staffs.
  • We had a barrel tasting tour with the winemaker. I really liked the place and the wines were excellent. This looks to be a 100% Bordeaux varietal winery. I didn't see anything else on the list that wasn't a Bordeaux.
  • Great place & good wine..
  • The first of June 2015 we had two couples visit the Trinchero winery and experienced our tour with a wine educator (Sandra Barros, CSW, CSS). Sandra was so welcoming, fun and taught us many interesting tidbits of the history of this winery, the wine making process and the wonders of proper pairings. The beauty of the property impressed us but Sandra was the highlight! Cheers, Kevin
