Where to stay in St. Helena

Because St. Helena is nestled in upscale wine country, most people who visit have no intention of roughing it. As such, the city sports a number of luxurious hotels. Several boast restaurants, hot tubs, and swimming pools; however, keep in mind that those with extensive grounds tend to be farther away from the main street. Budget-conscious travelers can find some more basic motels (looking farther out of town is a good way to save a few dollars). However, those staying on the outskirts should be aware that parking--particularly during high season--can be challenging in the city.

  • Beautiful winery tucked into Spring Mountain. The staff are wonderfully knowledgeable, and enjoy spending time with you. The setting is hard to beat, but the real focus here is the wine - well-crafted, and wonderfully diverse.
  • Had an amazing tasting experience here. Absolutely beautiful grounds, gorgeous tasting mansion, and some of the best wine I've ever had in my life. Immediately regretted not leaving with a few bottles!
  • Great winery to visit when the weather is pleasant. You sit next to the vineyard and taste the wines.
  • Our favorite wine tour. The vineyard is just breathtaking.
  • Wow! Definitely worth a stop while in the valley! Book your tour before you get out here as this is a popular vinyard. The wine is out of this world. 40 for a tasting and 75 for a tour. We did the tasting but have heard from others the tour is great too!
