Where to stay in St. Helena

Because St. Helena is nestled in upscale wine country, most people who visit have no intention of roughing it. As such, the city sports a number of luxurious hotels. Several boast restaurants, hot tubs, and swimming pools; however, keep in mind that those with extensive grounds tend to be farther away from the main street. Budget-conscious travelers can find some more basic motels (looking farther out of town is a good way to save a few dollars). However, those staying on the outskirts should be aware that parking--particularly during high season--can be challenging in the city.

  • The hostess was a bit snotty when we arrived. We just wanted to do a tasting and there were only 3 other people in the tasting room, so not sure why we felt like we were imposing. We were able to do a...  more »
  • This a beautiful peaceful place to try some of the best wine in Napa. The service was excellent and we really enjoyed it. We will be back! ...and the wine is really amazing!!!  more »
  • We arrived at 4:30 pm on a Friday and while they supposedly have tastings until 5 we were given a "two for one" to come back Saturday. We came right on time at noon and the customer service was horrib...  more »

  • Was greeted at the door by a very nice hostess that was very accommodating. It all went downhill from there. We where seated at a table and then where ignored by three different employees. Two walked right by our table. Waited 20 mins to hopefully start a 20$ a piece wine tasting. Never happened. It's too bad because I was looking forward to buying multiple bottles of wine. We ended up walking out.
  • If you enjoy a nice ambience and nice quality wines and food while avoiding the overcommercialized and crowded wineries this is your type of place. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Great first time Napa experience!
  • The waiters are fantastic, management sucks. They yell at the employees in front of your face. It's VERY uncomfortable.
  • The night before while dinning at the Culinary Institute of Art, we chose a Charles Krug red wine that was delicious and we then decided to visit the winery the following day. The visit was perfect with blue sky, nice temperature (Labor day weekend). We bought a bottle of wine and sat outside in a shared table with a plate of cheese while we waited for our pizzas. It was an excellent experience as their tables on the lawn are perfect to enjoy a nice bottle of wine while you watch the children playing in the grass.
  • This was one out of our favorite wineries while visiting Napa for the first time. Lorne was our host for the tasting and he was wonderful. Very knowledgeable and passionate about the wines. He definitely made the whole experience for us. Highly considering joining their wine club after the excellent time and wine we had on site. Thanks Lorne for your hospitality...if we're ever in Napa again, we will be back!
