Historic Site
See the possible landing site of Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon at Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park. St. Augustine is mainland America's earliest European settlement, and the park claims to be home to the spring from de Leon's account of his landfall in 1513. Though the fountain's magic has been questioned, you'll find the park has faithfully replicated and preserved early Spanish colonial and Native American buildings, including watch towers, houses, and burial sites. Learn about the active digs and excavations at the park, and get a glimpse of early U.S. colonial history, which spans 6 hectares (15 acres). Don't miss the displays covering the 2,000-year history of the local Timucua Indians. For travelers who use our custom trip planner, St. Augustine holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • This was a great stop. I was expecting not much more than the Fountain of Youth, but to my very pleasant surprise we were entertained by shows, live demonstrations to life in the days of the settlers....  more »
  • Make sure you arrive early enough to catch the shows, park closes at 6 pm on Sundays. Admission price seems expensive for what is offered.  more »

  • Loved this place. I've been to St. Augustine many times over the years but never came here - made a stop recently and will definitely come back. They have a beautiful park, lots of interesting historical displays, several live demonstrations (loved the blacksmith). Highly recommended.
  • It is a neat novelty to drink from the Fountain of Youth, but's not the same that I remember as a child. They changed how they serve the water. It's now in a building that has a display, then you take a cup and reach into this area with water that is covered by a grate. A few of the main exhibits were closed which was disappointing. The planetarium's movie is blurry and not very bright. The exit sign was glaring... which I know they have to have. We did see them fire an old gun and cannon which was interesting. The peacocks were fun to feed peanuts too, but otherwise this is overpriced and not really worth the price.
  • Our trip to St.Augustine wouldn't have been complete without a stop here. The staff at the park are very friendly, kind and very knowledgeable in the history they speak of. We had a grest time. My 8 year old (and parents) left with so much knowledge of our amazing Florida history.
  • One of the original Florida tourist attractions. An old timer blast from the past. Bring grandma and grandpa, it will be a time travel for them. The planetarium is an antique contraption you are not likely to see anywhere else. Drink from the Fountain of Youth and feel energized for another century. Fun!
  • Very cool to learn about the first settlers and how they interacted with the Indians. Very cool shows and demonstrations as well. They shoot an old school fun and have forts and examples of old school civilization and how they lived. Not to mention you get to drink from the fountain of youth.
