Flagler College, St. Augustine

Explore the historical campus of Flagler College, named after the famous industrialist Henry Morrison Flagler. You can wander the grounds on your own or take a student-led tour that grants access to more rooms. The centerpiece of the campus is Ponce de Leon Hall. The Spanish Renaissance-style building, a National Historic Landmark, was built in 1888 as a luxurious hotel, but today serves as a dining hall and residence hall for female students. Gaze up at the dining hall ceiling to see 200 hand-painted lions with lightbulbs in their mouths. The building also has colorful stained-glass windows and mosaics. Leave time to relax in the scenic college grounds. Plan your visit to Flagler College and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our St. Augustine trip builder app .

  • Loved the architecture. It's a College so best to see if you can take a tour. Just amazing building!  more »
  • Flagler too planted left in Florida. This school, originally part of the hotel which was built in the style of the city to grow Florida from the north up to Cayo Hueso, is a beautiful, excellently decorated for the occasion of the festivities.

  • Beautiful architecture, and fantastic history, definitely worth a moment to look around (and dream you could afford spending a several-month long vacation here like the Flagler-era elite could). The tour is student run (twice daily 10am and 2pm, $10 adult ticket), which is interesting. It was very informative, although a little short (a brief description of the outside architecture, and you visit 2 rooms other than the main entryway, the women's parlor and the ballroom, which is now the college cafeteria). The parlor itself is worth it though, with its decorations, paintings, and period clothing on display. The Tiffany works are definitely worth it as well, as it is the largest privately owned collection of windows in the world. Beautiful, and definitely worth a moment to look at!
  • One of my favorite places to visit in Florida! My son will be graduating from Flagler in December - so happy he went to Flagler, but sad his time in St. Augustine is coming to an end. Great college for those looking for an affordable private school.
  • Beautiful college, gorgeous architecture and art from the 1800's. A piece of Florida history not to be missed. Tours are given Daily and reasonably priced. You can see a.lot for free and the gardens are amazing
