  • This was our third trip back in 13 years. People are very helpful and friendly. Facility is very nice, but compared to previous trips the gems we got were far fewer and not as varied as in past visits...  more »
  • The staff were wonderful. Great bucket mining. We bought the small bucket with mixed rocks for $33 and found good sized stones. Highly recommended.  more »
  • Our 6 year old grandson is crazy about gems so we took him and his 3 year old brother here to explore the mines. We bought a $30 bucket and he went crazy pulling the gems out before we could even get ...  more »

  • Spectular place to stop and spend anywhere from an hour to all day. Owners and staff are the friendliest around. Such a fun place! Great finds and beautiful jewelry. We actually went back a second day. Have been coming here for almost 20 years from Florida and IL. Rocks gettin cut into stores arrive in a timely fashion. They make great recommendations for cuts and setting. Nice gift shop too. See you again!
  • My late wife and I visited Gem Mountain several times back in 2003/2004 and were never disappointed. We usually got the larger buckets and had several of the stones we found cut (smoky quartz, blue topaz which is not indigenous to the mountains of WNC, and amethyst). We always had fun but a word of advice. Go there when it is warm. Otherwise you will freeze your fingers off in the sluice water.
  • Clean, great family environment, and very friendly staff. My family and I found tons of stuff in the Super Gem Bucket. We even had an emerald cut and to be set in a pendant. We capped off the day with ice cream from the general store. Overall it was a terrific experience! I highly suggest it for anyone looking to have some fun. We will definitely be back.
  • Been before with Some of my grandkids and taking them all back in few weeks! Loved it! Was fun and educational! People were so nice and sweet! Can't wait to get back!
  • Had a lot of fun at this gem mine! Prices are competitive with similar places we've visited. They identify what you find and offer cutting
