Old State Capitol provides a look the architecture and design of Illinois' most important state building from 1839 to 1876, a period during which Abraham Lincoln was a frequent visitor. It was here that Lincoln gave his famous "House Divided" speech, declared his candidacy for Senate, and laid in state before his funeral. Watch a video detailing the restored Greek Revival building’s history before embarking on an interpreter-led tour of government offices, libraries, the Supreme courtroom, and legislative chambers.   • Very old building with historical significance. Very well preserved artifacts from the past. Education exhibits are a nice touch. Refreshing A/C is definitely a plus when a retreat from a scorching heat is necessary when visiting downtown Springfield.
  • Definitely worth checking out! Very educational. Interesting to see how it was when Lincoln was there. Well preserved artifacts, furniture and beautiful building!
  • Great place to stop for a quick tour and lots of interesting history plus tons of old interesting artifacts. They operate on donations and give good tours.
  • Great place to experience the political process during Lincoln's time! Would highly recommend a stop to check it out.
